This was purchased for my daughter. She is a beginner wood carver. The activity gives her a soothing comfort. It is creative, slow pace, but the achievement is concrete, and gives her confidence. Definitely different from building something electronically in Minecraft.The wood blocks are smooth and feels nice in hand, the carving kits were so sharp and well made. The case fits all the carving knives in place safely and the size is compact enough for easy storage or carry around in a bag.She is now working on her first bird carving. Great project during long summer vacation. I recommend this kit and some other wood carving kits to everyone.

I purchased this item for my grandson for Christmas. He is going to love it!Great set of tools and I believe a great value for the money. He is a beginner and these are going to give him tonz of carving hours ahead.

Just as described aboveGood packagingVery sharp so be careful..Also, in the picture of the wood shown , I used one of them, to test them out and this is were I said to be careful, since they are sharp , but really good.

I bought this kit for my 9 year old son. He is interested in carving wood and I wanted tools that were good but not expensive. The set is perfect! He has used it almost every day since getting it. I have some very expensive carving tools and this set provides the same shaped tools that do just as good a job. The handles are perfect for smaller hands. The case is much better than the pouches most kits come in. I was also pleased to get some starter pieces of wood with the kit.

I bought the kit for my husband to try out whittling. He said it was good for a beginner kit. In addition to the knives, the kit also includes a whetstone, blocks of wood in various sizes, and other tools. The knives were sharp so he was able to whittle a gnome easily (he followed the step by step instructions in a book I also ordered). He enjoyed his first experience in whittling.

The very first time my son used it, one of the heads broke off. It's not a super-sturdy set. If he likes carving as I think he will, I will get him a better set of tools.

I ordered this for a neighbor. Mr. Deal is an introvert and mostly a loner. He has begun carving whittling for a hobbyI ordered this because he helps me walk my dogs.He loved the kit and wood. Great starter set if you want to get into carving. I went through all my sample blocks of wood within a few days. Make sure you have a sharpening stone because they do seem to dull quicker than other tools I’ve used but sharpen up just fine.
