The stand seems solid, but I paid the price I did for it because the description says it is made in the USA. The box it came in clearly says “made in China”.

I bought this item for $151.04 plus tax. I chose it instead of what looked like identical tree stands made in China by Ventray and by Huwena that were each listed for $78.99 (plus tax). After I received the item I examined it to make sure it said "Made in USA." The name John Wright was impressed on the bottom, but there was no stamp to indicate it was made in the USA. When I tore the packing box dow I saw in big letters on the bottom of the box "Made in China." I do my best to buy products made in our own county and am usually willing to pay a premium to support American manufacture. After learning this item had been made in China I felt defrauded. I called Amazon and requested a partial refund of $77.09 (the difference in the cost of the item made in USA (purportedly) and the one made in China. This request was granted. My experience with Amazon has always been excellent: however, this experience made me wonder whether other items advertised on Amazon as being made in the USA are actually made in our country.

I have always wanted one of these tree stands. I bought this thinking I could use it with my artificial tree. I could not use it because it has a stabilizing post in the middle of the water container. I understand why they do that however I think it should be noted in the description of the product so people like me with artificial trees do not buy it. That said, it is a beautiful stand, worth the money and something that could be passed down in a family.
