The stereo, full-sized HR-J692U comes with JVC's Super VHS Quasi Playback (SQPB) feature, which allows the VHS VCR to recognize and play back tapes recorded in the Super VHS format. This recorder is ready for action--just take it out and plug it in. A color, multilingual onscreen menu and a PLL frequency-synthesized 181-channel tuner simplify setup and operation.

The HR-J692U features a hi-fi, four-head design that combines great sound, high recording quality, and great effects, including variable slow motion, frame advance, and variable speed search. The VCR's four-head design gives you crystal-clear pause and slow-motion effects, and its dual-azimuth construction uses two pairs of recording heads rather than one, each optimized for a specific mode (one for SP recording, the other for EP). Pro-Cision 19-micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended-play) mode.

The HR-J692U comes with front audio/video jacks enabling easy access for connecting camcorders, video games, or an extra VCR. One-year, eight-event express programming and a full-function remote complete the package.

Les câbles AV (jaune et blanc) n’étaient pas inclus. Après avoir retrouvé les miens, et m’être rappelé comment brancher le tout à ma télé intelligente, le tout fonctionnait parfaitement.

I had difficulty hooking up the VCR to my grandma’s TV. I called the number provided in the packaging for assistance and the seller walked me through step by step which cord I needed to correct and what input to use for the picture to show. I really appreciate this company’s customer service and would definitely recommend buying more of their products!

This is quality VCR. I was looking for one that came with all the needed wires because who wants to hunt for the correct wires at the store. It came with the wires and the remote as well. The remote even had brand new batteries in it! Thank you! If you have a newer T.V. you have to go to settings on your T.V. and when you click on settings there will be a list that comes up with the word AV in the list. Click on AV to use the VCR. When you want to watch regular T.V. you have to go back in setting and switch it back to what it was.

Nice looking unit and functional. I needed a VCR for playing some old tapes I still enjoy. JVC used to be made in Japan but this unit is made in China. Resolution is not as good as DVD or BluRay but that is nodoubt due to the media type. The front inputs work well for patching in a video game console but not as clear as direct input. Sound output is very good. Price point is very good.

This VHS machine, although advertised to last a lifetime, in fact did not work. It worked a little, sometimes, but produced shaky pictures that struggled, then stopped. The seller alleged that she had tested it multiple times, but it arrived with a non-working battery in the remote, which casts doubt on this story!

I hope it keeps going for a long time, I have a large collection of VHS tapes I need to convert over to DVD and love its capability for being easy on the tapes during wind and search operations. It sometimes gets confused when ejecting a tape and wants to play it again, but so far has not eaten any tapes yet.

... compared to the awful reviews it's gotten here on quality and durability. I fully expect mine to break and I just hope it does within 30 days so that Best Buy will make good on it.1. The 90/90 warranty speaks for itself. Best Buy's price ticket on the display model indicated 30/1yr which is bad enough and obviously false.2. The machine is not stereo if you simply use the easy Ant.In and TV-Out wire. Turns out that gives you monaural. If you buy a triple wire for AudioLeft, AudioRight and Video. Then you get stereo. However, if you want to record something while you're watching a different program, you also have to have the monaural video out wire. So ... if you thought you might enjoy life without an A-B switch, you won't.3. My 3 year-old JVC VCR still works fine, the reason I bought this one. But, they not only "dumbed it down" as others here have said, but there's no Channel 3/4 output switch. That's set manually in the firmware and is lost in a power outage. Certainly not a good feature for an older person who has trouble with electronics items to begin with.4. JVC even cheapened the owner's manual. My older JVC's was bound like a book. This one is a huge foldout, exactly like a road map. It's a pain finding your way from one page to the next and will eventually fray and fall apart like road maps do. From what I've read here that's probably not going to happen since the map will likely outlast the machine. Why did I give this 3-stars? Mine is 12 hours old and didn't break yet. Also it was manufactured more recently than many of the others criticized here, so I can at least hope against hope it won't break. Am really sorry I didn't scout the reviews here first.
