Install on my 07 STI was cake. I replaced the plastic collar & socket it sits in as well (Subaru OEM parts). I also have the full kartboy bushing kit; the combination makes a world of difference.

This shifter fit perfectly and took me roughly an hour to install. Once finished it made shifting feel more solid. The only bit of advise I would pass on that greatly avoids trouble is don't forget to crawl under the car and put an allen wrench or something in the reverse lockout hole on the transmission.
