With the latest technology and the finest materials, KastKing has created the Zephyr 1000 SFS (Spin Finesse System) fishing reel - a 1000 size SFS spinning reel that weighs only 5.3 ounces. The KastKing Zephyr balances well on any finesse fishing rod and is a fantastic reel for targeting bass, trout, crappies and other panfish.
Zephyr BFS spinning reels feature 7 + 1 stainless steel double shielded ball bearings with up to 10 lbs of incredibly smooth, 3-disc carbon fiber drag that’s ideal for use with light fishing lines. The braid-ready CNC hard-anodized aluminum two tone spool prevents braided lines from slipping, so there’s no need for backing! Plus the reel features 6061-T6 Aluminum handle with EVA paddle grips, a manganese brass pinion gear and stainless steel hardware.

Best kastking I’ve used. Normally don’t buy kastking since I’ve had reels and rods break on me in the past but this one is different. Much better quality 👌

Nice lil reel. Smooth operation for the price point. Smaller then I expected. I realize every manufacturer sizes their reels a lil differently. If you’re familiar with the Shimano brand this reel is more of a 500 size than a 1000. I’ll spool it with some 6lb braid and add in rotation. Should be a good reel. Very nice drag clicker.

Bought and sent back two of these reels . First one had bail closure issues and second one developed a bump in the gears upon retrieving.. never even caught a fish on either of them .. opted for a picifun carbon x 2 to replace . Much happier. Better reel no hands down

Picked this up on sale and paired it with a 6'9" Dobyns Colt ML(matches perfectly). Extremely smooth reel and a lightweight package. Plenty of drag to bring in a 17.5", 4 lb largemouth on a booyah pond magic spinnerbait. Spoiled with 10lb braid with 8lb fluoro leader. Love it so far

This is fine for what it is, an inexpensive lightweight shallow spool 1000.The weight is actually impressive. I mean the capability, not the literal weight, which is very light. But I'd argue the drag is fine for 95% of ANY bass fishing, much less finesse fishing, which it easily handles.Now the bad parts. The spool is woefully small and shallow. With a measly 8lb flouro I doubt it can hold 50yd. You need to go light braid to have enough line to be versatile at all.I tried spooling more, because it does say it should be able to handle it. But I met excessive tangling, including severe knots under the spool around the center post, as other reviewers have mentioned.After trimming all the knots out and being left with a max capability of around 50yd, I find it's incredibly difficult to get any distance on a cast.Basically if you spool it to the specifications printed right on it, you'll 100% get knots, then you trim and you go straight to not spooled enough to the point where you can't cast worth a darn. And even if you do, you only have 50y or so to work with.So if you're like me and wanted a lightweight reel that could do it all, or "do it most", this is probably not the right choice. If you have a very specific finesse setup in mind it might be awesome.And finally, as I've seen with KastKing products in the past, the quality is not quite up to par. Very plasticky. Sure it might be equal or slightly better than the major brands at the same price. But I certainly wouldn't say it's tremendous value as far as build quality goes.Still, I'll give it 5 stars because people should do their research and know what they're buying. Although, it might not last. The last KastKing I bought was a Megatron that was completely destroyed and returned after a week or so. We'll see!

This is a great SFS (Spinning Finesse System) reel for trout fishing on a Ultra Light or a Light rod. The retrieve is smooth and firm feeling like a $100 reel (thanks to all the bearings). The reel is ultra light and pairs very well with UL/L rods and provides a great balance to each rod I tried it on.Pairs very well with 6 pound braid and a long 3 pound fluorocarbon leader. It handles small to larger trout with true ease with the its smooth drag.If you need a light reel, well constructed and mid-priced reel, look no further this is it.

Added this to a Daiwa ultralight rod and spooled it up with 6 lb braid. It can cast smaller baits for miles. Seems to be good quality so far for the price. I'd recommend this reel to others. Very smooth.
