I bought three Mavericks when they were first released. They have held up remarkably well and still perform well. At these prices they are the best value in a bass casting reel. I’ve purchased five more.

No issues with color as other reviewers whined about. I don’t “color” code my rods, they are tools and I fish them. I purchased due to gear ratio, owning Dobyns rods, and the discounted price. This went on a light swimbait rod. This is a secondary technique for me.Having a variety of reels across price points this reel breaks down to this:Reel handle is pure Shimano /DaiwaSpool button feels like a Piscifun, very sturdy.-tolerances are not as tight as higher end reels, things are a little sloppyThe smaller profile gear housing reminds me of a kastking reelOverall feel is similar to a sub $100 Okuma baitcasterFor $35 I would recommend it, not sure if I paid full price if I would stick with it. It feels like a hodgepodge of parts from factories that other manufacturers use that Dobyns smashed together.

For the price I took a chance. No issues so far. Bought green 6.5 and got green. Bought 7.2 red and got blue. Color might not be what you ordered like others have mentioned. Actually 7.2 blue was higher priced than green so no complaints here.

The reel is smooth but the first time i ordered it I ordered a blue reel and got green, the second time I ordered a red reel and got a blue reel so I think the colors are mixed up.Red=BlueGreen=RedBlue=Green

Don't expect the color you choose. I read the reviews so I was prepared, so I ordered the cheapest one which was RED and got BLUE instead which I'm totally fine with. For 1/3 of the original price, I don't mind at all!

Reel seems great for the price!! 11 bearings makes it feel super smooth.After reading the other reviews I decided I would be better off ordering green and hoping I’d get blue. Well, I ordered green and I got green. lol

these reels are great casters with a very light, fast starting spool that makes it easy to cast light lures. set the brakes on 9.5 and you are good to go. BTW do not expect to get the color you order. Every time I have ordered blue [5 times] I have received green.
