I wanted to stop carrying my laptop back and forth to/from work since I really only need it at home a handful of times a year. It's pretty much only at work that I need it. The office I use has people constantly coming and going, and some of the younger kids in the building could easily walk off unnoticed with any electronics that aren't nailed down. I have an Apple MacBook so there are no security cable connections built-in. I picked a decent spot on the case, scratched it up with the corner of a new razor blade (to give the glue a better surface to bite on), then applied this. I let it dry for a full day before testing. After that, I attached a cable a pulled at different angles, hard enough that I put a slight warp into the aluminum case of the laptop. I wanted to be sure that you couldn't just give a yank and break this thing off in 2 seconds. It's on there strong enough that anyone who breaks it off is going to seriously screw up the computer case. That's all you can really ask for in laptop security. They're gonna get away with it if they want it bad enough, but you want it to look all banged up and "obviously stolen" if they do so. This mount will definitely do that. I've now left that laptop in the office, cabled to a big steel desk, with the locking cable clearly visible as soon as you glance at it, for about 4 months, and I've never noticed any signs of anyone even attempting to steal it. Would definitely buy again, especially for a MacBook.

Works great to anchor computer to immobile surface. I took two KENSINGTON ClickSafe MC Combo Exp Loops, looped them through each other, and then attached one end to the computer and one to the anchor. You basically end up with a two foot cable with a clicksafe lock on both ends. The beauty of this is that since I have to move between multiple desks which at times other people use, the only thing that has to stay attached at the workstation is the anchor which is small and inconspicuous. I actually attach the anchor to the underside of the cabinet about the desk so it gets in no ones way. Underside of desk would be fine, but the deskks I use are the top of a cabinet so no underside.(I used to use a Kensington 6 foot clicksafe cable, which works fine, except there frequently is nothing to anchor the loop to.)The 3M double sided pad works great and immediately. Therefore, attaching the anchor takes less than a minute and no mess. I have used about 8 anchors since I go to alot of different desks. No problem with any attachments.One caveat relating to lock (not anchor itself), the clicksafe lock won't work in the Kensington (security) slot of my lenovo G510 since their the computer has a seam just below the slot. The rim protrudes slightly which prevents the lock from going on far enough to latch. However, I ended up putting an anchor on a corner of the lid. Works fine since you can't see it when you are using the computer and the lock is so small that it isn't a problem when the laptop is not in use.

Sticks a little too well! Left marks on my laptop from taking it off. If you get this, plan on having it on there for a very long time.
