This is a good laptop cable. Works just as it should. I use the locked cable when travelling to secure my suitcase or large backpack in my room when I'm carrying my laptop for work during the day. Purchased strong, permanent, small adhesive plates that allow the lock to attach to my backpack or suitcase. I just loop the cable over a closet rod or similar and lock the zipper shut with a strong, tiny lock. Not a sure thing, but makes it more of a time consuming pain to attempt petty hotel, train, or hostel room theft. I don't bring valuables, but I also haven't had to replace anything that went "missing," either. Worth the cost for security and peace of mind. Locks and unlocks quickly enough.

Easy to set your combination and easy to hook it up to my monitor. It seems very rigid, no one can steel your laptop or monitor easily. Obviously with the right tools you can cut it, but that will make a lot of noise and will take a long time which is not something a thief is looking for.

Cable is nice and thick. The juncture where thw lock inserts into the laptop sits loose. Based on several other reviews this must be by design. To me, it looks like a violent pull would rip it out of the laptop but I have not nor will I test this. This will likely deter a grab and run thief in a place with little to no privacy and I would not expect a great deal more security than that. Part of the equation is the laptop material itself, most being of plastic and breakable.Setting up the lock for a desired combination is pretty easy. The Ultra model has a thick cable and has some significant weight to it so keep that in mind if you expect to carry this around. Overall build quality appears good.

Our office travels to conferences with a variety of equipment (laptops, projectors, TV's, etc.) that needs to be locked down to prevent theft. Originally I had purchased your typical cable lock with key, and had a master key created to allow me to unlock any within the set of 30 cable locks I purchased at that time. While this worked well, my users kept losing the keys to the cable locks, which would force me to constantly loan out my master key or interrupt my duties to go lock or unlock items for the users. This product replaced most of my old keyed locked solutions, with a simple & easy to program/set rolling combination lock. I love how quick and easy it is to use, set, and unhook, and both myself and staff love not having to worry about keys, as well as being able to set a password for one meeting to share with specific people as needed, then change it for the next meeting.Would definitely purchase more as needed.

I am using this lock with a GunBox to keep it from walking away in the case of a break-in. It's tied to a bed frame as an anchor point. I am sure a thief with bolt cutters will have no problem cutting through this cable, but this will definitely prevent a smash and grab scenario where they may be unprepared to cut through a cable.I have also used this lock with a laptop and it will definitely prevent it from walking away if you step aside for a moment if tied to a proper anchor that the cable cannot be slipped out of or lifted out of. This type of lock is great for securing monitors and desktop computers as well, or terminals that have a Kensington style reinforced slot.

One star off because of Amazon.com return policy. The item is 5 stars.I got the Ultra version that is ticker not longer as one of the answers wrongly sais. It is a lot better quality than the one I had before from OfficeDepot (not Kensington).Unfortunately it does not work with a DELL XPS 13 and DELL did not care to tell in the docs that their product slot is not a standard K slot. It needs a special lock like Kensington ClickSafe K64637WW or K64698US, or Noble Security Low Profile TZ08.

I really didn't want to deal with another key floating around to deal with. My work computer uses a key already and I don't need another. This gives me exactly what I wanted. Though it's only use is to keep the smash and grab type thieves away, it is very sturdy. I would recommend to anyone who just wants to keep things where they put them, as long as you aren't too far away. I love how easy it is to set a new combination and always make sure to reset it back to zeros as I don't want anyone easily guessing my code. Once you put the code in, just press the black button and your device is free.

I work in a large office with lots of people, and - as you might expect in such a setting - sometimes equipment goes missing. With that in mind, my manager recommended that I either take my laptop home at night or leave it locked to my desk. This product provided a convenient solution. The cable is stiff, but flexes enough that you can get it around or through things. It also feels decently sturdy. Honestly, given the age of my laptop, I'm pretty sure that the machine would break before the cable. Setup and installation are both easy, and although the tumbler sticks out a bit from the back of the computer, I'd say it's not enough to complain about. As long as you don't push your laptop flat against the cubicle wall, it's not even noticeable.

This product is outstanding. I love having a combo lock instead of a key, so that way my kids can unlock it and take it to another room in the house without me worrying about them losing the key. It also seems very sturdy. Could someone with the right tools cut through this thing? I'm sure, but what security system outside of Fort Knox is 100% secure, anyway? You are making it much more difficult on a thief, and that's the whole point.UPDATE: I bought another one for my desktop. Yes, there's a slot on that, too, that fits perfectly, also locking the cover to prevent someone from just removing it and taking what they want.
