This Kerick MA382 float valve is a tank-mount style with an adjustable arm, and is made of PVC with 18-8 stainless steel hardware. The valve has a 0.093" orifice and its estimated rate of flow is 1.3 gallons per minute (gpm) at 40 pounds per square inch (psi) and 1.5 gpm at 60 psi. The valve inlet has 3/8" NPT male extended threads with a sealing washer and jam nut for mounting through a tank wall, and the valve outlet is free flowing. The valve inlet includes a compression fitting for use with 3/8" tubing. The valve is made of National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approved PVC (polyvinyl chloride), its replaceable seals are made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) for durability and chemical resistance, and its hardware is made of 18-8 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The valve has a 1.5" in diameter and 4" long polyethylene float attached to the adjustable shutoff lever arm. This float valve is suitable for use in a variety of applications, such as fountains and livestock water tanks.

Float valves use a rod and float ball attached to a valve shutoff lever to control flow in or out of a tank. The float ball rises or falls with the level of liquid in the tank, changing the angle of the valve shutoff lever. When the angle of the valve lever changes sufficiently, the valve opens or closes. Float valves are rated according to the volume of liquid that can flow through them at a particular pressure to ensure the tank can be refilled as quickly as it is emptied. The material that a float valve is constructed from must be suitable for the liquid in which it operates, which may be corrosive or at an extreme temperature. Float valves are used to automatically regulate the level of liquid within tanks in a variety of applications, such as fountains, livestock water tanks, cooling towers, and chemical manufacturing plants.

Kerick Valve manufactures fluid level control valves for industrial applications. The company, founded in 1994, is headquartered in Jacksonville, FL.

I made a self-watering system for my daughter from 5 gallon buckets with net pots on the bottom that sit inside a section of gutter. This float valve controls water flow to the gutter to keep level high enough to wick into the buckets. So far the valve is working great.

Easy to install, a little teflon tape and a wrench, and 10 min. Not 100% sure how this will function over the longterm, but so far so good. Ask me again in 3 months. With 115 degree temps in AZ, I'm curious about the adjustments and if it holds the waterline as needed. Good price.

I used these on the auto fill of my in ground pool.Works just as good as the expensive brass/bronze ones. At a tiny fraction of the price.

I tried three of these valves in the last few months, and none of them would fully close. The first one was beyond the 30-day return limit, so I ordered another; same problem. Amazon replaced that one; same problem, so I returned third valve for a refund and am temporarily shutting off water manually while trying to come up with another brand that works correctly. My only satisfaction is with Amazon's return policy! (Float valve is used to control level of water from a reverse osmosis system in a 60-gal. tank. The original Kerick valve worked well for 10 years.)

Bought three and none had the 3/8" tube fitting, lock nut and washer. Returned them for three more and only one had the 3/8" tube fitting, lock nut and washer.

Above valve came out to be just what I needed for the water control on self watering bucket planters. Have not set them out yet cause of weather, but setup should work fine as to what I see so far. Thank YouErnesto Sanchez

this is a replacement for a similar valve that i have been using in my ro system for my 120-gal. discus tank. for over two years it had been working flawlesly. it deveveloped a small leak but im sure it can be fixed by minor tweaking. however, with this price i rather replace it with a new one. i highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a dependable float check valve. this vendor shipped it to me in less than 10 days for free!
