In most cases, this needs taken to a dealership or locksmith for programming. Still, this costs significantly less than getting a programmed key at the dealership. I had gotten another key and the OBD2 programmer for the 2010 1500 so I just followed the directions on the key programmer as I had previously. It only took a few minutes to program and the hardest part was installing the OBD programmer while the door was closed. The local farm supply store and hardware store both cut keys for less than locksmiths, making this an especially good deal in this case. If replacing a broken key fob, I'd just put the cut key from that one into this fob and save the time of getting this key cut since they're interchangeable. Just make sure to have a cut key in the fob in case the truck or fob battery run down and the doors won't unlock. This key works as expected so I have no complaints.

Key fob took less than 5 minutes to program for my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the spare key was cut around Ace Hardware for free.
