My 8-year-old was very excited to receive this, as her previous helmet had a more "little kid" design that she was ready to be done with. She much preferred the purple color over the pink, too. The color is a bit paler than that shown on the product page, but it still looks pretty good.My daughter ran off with the included adhesive beads, and bedazzled her bedroom mirror with them instead of using them on the helmet. This may be for the best, as the beads obviously change the surface of the helmet.The helmet appears to be well-made and able to provide protection. The layers of the helmet (sponge-like pads, hard foam, and outer plastic shell) appear to be as described in the product page, too. The dial to adjust the circumference around the head is convenient and easy. However, I have a hard time believing that many 12 or 13-year-old girls will be able to fit into this. I was surprised that the size, while okay for my daughter, might only be good for 2-3 years. But I also don't think a 12-year-old would prefer this design, so that's not a huge deal. I would probably look elsewhere, though, if you are purchasing a helmet for someone 11 years or older.At the current price point ($24 minus 20% coupon at time of review), it's a good value.

My girls love this helmet and especially loved putting the stickers on it. Unlike some helmets out there, you can actually adjust the chin strap, and there is a nice padded cover for the chin. Home run present for the girls.
