About this item

  • Fits Maxle rear thru axles
  • 12mm diameter x 1.75 thread pitch
  • For coarse-threaded 12mm thru-axle systems including: RockShox Maxle, Trek APB, Maxle

The Kinetic Traxle is a precision-machined replacement axle for mountain bikes that easily adapts any 12mm thru-axle system to firmly lock into trainer cone cups. Specifically engineered to work on Kinetic trainers, the system is still adaptable enough to work with most other trainer brands making it a perfect solution for bike shop fitting stations and home-use alike. The Kinetic Traxle comes in 3 thread pitches, coarse, medium and fine, to fit most bike brands. Unlike stock thru-axles, the Kinetic Traxle has tapered heads that stand out just far enough from from the bike frame to fit into the cone cups on a Kinetic trainer. Bike frame manufacturers determine thread pitch on their frame sets. It's important to know which thread pitch your bike uses before ordering a Traxle. For instance, DT Swiss makes axles based on manufacturer specifications not a standard single thread pitch, so refer to bike manufacturer to determine which Traxle you need. Compatible with Maxle axle designations including (but not limited to): Trek, Niner, GT (2014), Salsa (2014), Canfield, Giant Reign X, Diamondback Models: Mason and Mason FS series.

Funciona perfecto.

It's a well made axle and does what it should. I put this on a brand new "budget" gravel bike (Polygon Bend R5) to fit it on a 25 year old Racermate Computrainer. Fits great on both. It came with 3 spacers (two 7's and a 12). Might be nice if they had 3 different sized spacers for more adaptability.I ordered the wrong size the first time and returned it with no problem. Don't make my mistake and be sure to check for the thread size/pitch you need.

2018 Specialized Roubaix Comp. I used Kinetic Traxle T-2100 fine thread (1.0M pitch) 12mm x 142mm 105645.I removed existing axle and replaced with Traxle using the supplied tapered spacer on drive side and flat spacer on disc brake side. Fit perfectly and is centered. Took 5 minutes.I considered going to the machine shop and making my own but estimated 2 1/2 hours on the machines, the cost of the aluminum stock, buying a tap, and the travel time to get everything I need.Considering the hard coat finish on the Traxle and quality of the threaded end, I think the $49 price is reasonable.

Works as described. Using a kinetic rock and roll trainer however I can’t comment on using this they axle on other brands of trainer.

Works flawlessly on a 2020 Cannondale Synapse Disc. Local bike shop wanted $60 for the same thing. If you've got a 142.5 hub with a 12mm x 1.0/fine thread pitch, this is exactly what you need to adapt your thru axle to fit on your trainer. Granted, it's a little expensive for an aluminum rod that's threaded on one end, but it's well engineered and worked as designed. The tapered spacer fits perfectly into the non-derailleur side of the frame and prevents your expensive carbon fiber from being crushed or damaged. Plus, it's plenty strong for everyday use and doesn't add much weight - I think I'm just going to leave it in there permanently. Now if only they made this in a quick release version...

I just bought a new Quintana Roo PRfour and needed this adapter for my Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. I needed to use both of the smaller spacers on the axle, but it works perfectly on the trainer. Have used it several times now, and it's rock solid. Very easy to install, literally within seconds. (I think it's easier that using the skewers!) Quality component, well machined, perfect fit. Would buy again.

When I opened the box I could immediately see and then feel the great quality of this product. However, this initially turned to disappointment when I tried to install it and it didn't seem to fit. I then used my vernier calipers to measure the Traxle, my bike's thru axle and the inside diameter of my rear droputs/wheel and this seemed to confirm my disappointment.I then called Kinetic and was suggested to try installing the Traxle into the wheel and dropouts separately. And it fit both! So it turns out that it was "operator error" and that I didn't have alignment of the wheel and dropouts correct when I tried the installation (I'm not sure why my measurements were off as I tried to do so carefully).I have since put the bike with Traxle installed up on my dumb trainer and the setup works great. I will be using it for away races (I train with another bike on a smart trainer). I highly recommend the Traxle. One note to those that may seek a less expensive solution: Kinetic is a real machine shop. You should remember that you are installing a replacement axle into your dropouts that if not manufactured to high precision, could ruin the threads of your bike's frame. A high quality product is well worth the price.

Just bought a new Canyon Aeroad Disc. Bike is great but was slightly bummed to find the thru axles weren't compatible with my Cycleops Powerbeam Pro. I figured I was going to have to keep my old road bike around to accommodate inside riding (which is basically half the year in the Midwest). However, this product ended up being the perfect solution. Was easy to install and works great in the trainer (fit is much tighter relative to my old bike, but it works). No issues at all with use outdoors either. So nice knowing I don't need to hang onto 2 bikes.

It does exactly what it says it does. It's a little long for my Cyclops Fluid 2, but I can get the bike to fit with a 1.4" tire. That said, the price is absolutely absurd for what you get. It's two very simple turned parts that even with finishing and packaging probably cost Kinetic $6-8. There aren't even spacers with this kit - it's just a fancy bolt and nut. This is NOT a $50 part - it should be $25-30 at most. Heck, even the far more complicated DT Swiss RWS thru axles (which have a positionable lever) are $30-35.5 stars for functionality and quality, 1 star for value, so 3 stars it is.Note that this axle is for the Shimano standard - it fits my Pivot perfectly.

Bought for use on my cross bike with a 12x142 thru axle, for warming up at races. Works great. You need a 6 mm allen wrench for the non-drive side, then a 18 mm box wrench for the drive side. Although to be honest I imagine hand-tight would be fine for a 20-minute warm up like I do.Threading: be sure to choose the right threading. I bought medium, which is the Shimano standard (1.50 mm). Rock Shox (maxle) axles are coarse (1.75 mm thread pitch), and Syntace use 1.00 mm thread pitch (fine). So make sure you order the right threading. Other brands fit in to these categories as well, but you'll have to figure out yours (only other one I know is DT Swiss ratcheting 12 mm thru axle is 1.00 mm thread pitch). This lost a star simply because of the price - they know they've got you over a barrel, so they charge what they want. It is well made, no doubt, but should come in around $20-30.(I use it on a , but I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work on any brand of trainer.)
