This hand torch is comfortable, light, and made very sturdy for its size. The ease of refilling the hand torch instead of attaching a can of butane makes it more versatile.The direct flame or soft flame allows to carmalize and sear perfectly. Highly recommended for kitchen, but certainly functional as a hand torch/ lighter.

Tuffen Kitchen Torch Gray, Refillable Cooking Torch Lighter, Butane Gas Is Not IncludedAlthough a kitchen torch can be used for many applications, I use mine in the kitchen. I frequently use it while cooking to brown or crisp dishes like crème brûlée or the tops of casseroles. I also use it when working with isomalt to keep it pliable and to get a clear finish. My previous chef’s torch was okay for some uses, but lacked the intensity of the Tuffen product. This one has two sliding controls. One adjusts the size of your flame, while the other controls the temperature. It can also be set to give you a continuous flame without needing to hold down the trigger. You can alternate between a soft flame and a jet flame. The body of the torch has a very comfortable grip, enabling me to hold it securely without my hand becoming fatigued.I tested the torch several ways and for the most part it was reliable. With both controls at their lowest settings, it sometimes took a few “clicks” to get a flame. It’s easer to keep it set at a moderate level to ignite it and the adjust it lower. Although I gave this product five stars, there are a few glitches:* The seller’s description states that a red adapter is included in the box, but it was not included.* The description also mentions turning the safety lock clockwise for a continuous flame. This lock does not turn, it’s a sliding control.There are two other items that you should be aware of:* There is no butane included. Most kitchen torches are shipped WITHOUT butane for safety reasons.* THERE IS NO WAY TO LOCK THIS TORCH ON AN OFF SETTING. KEEP IT AWAY FROM CHILDREN.As long as you can use this kitchen torch safely, I would recommend it. It is a powerhouse of a kitchen, craft, and repair tool.
