I've attached a couple of photos - one of the original print, one taken of a negative with this device using their app. I'm actually surprised. I only spent a couple minutes tweaking the picture. With a little more care, I'll bet you can get pretty close. In this case, I over-sharpened it and had it backwards - but it wasn't ideal editing this on a small phone screen. While the app works in a pinch, you'd be much better off tweaking the photos on a large computer screen using editing software. The process is pretty manual, so you'll likely not be having much fun doing large quantities of photos. But for small transfers, I'd say this does a pretty good job. Now that I understand what it can do, my next scans will likely have much better results. For 20 bucks (at the time of this review), you really can't go wrong with this. I really like it.

Very quick and easy to use.Scanning the QR code in the manual got to the app very quickly and easily. The app is very simple, but does what you need it to - swapping negatives over to colour, and giving you a load of straightforward tools to get the desired colour balance.I can imagine someone with a decent Adoboe Photoshop or similar setup might find all these digital tools unnecessary (potentially even cumbersome if it's interferring with the raw picture in a destructive way) though, which removes a major selling point of the product. As a way of digitising images for later manipulation, it works fine.Even taking no precautions at all to mitigate ambient day-light, and spending next to no time at all adjusting any of the colour settings, we managed to get equal image quality from the negatives as were found in the developed photos. That said, these were amateur photos taken with a disposable camera, so it is hard to say how much detail a more sophisticated setup might've seen lost. The stand is sturdy and well designed - operating the smart phone didn't cause any jiggling that might disrupt its operation, and that is without using the included stick-on magnets, etc to really lock the setup down. It packs away neatly for subsequent use.Even on 2xAA batteries, the internal light was just the right brightness and whiteness for the job. It's a cut above near-identical solutions for digitising slides, but as those can be less than half the cost - it is hard to say how well it represents value for money - especially for people who are already using a similar scaffold for digitising films in conjunction with more sophisticated tools, like Photoshop.

This is a good idea in principle, but the design and software needs work. First of all, I don't appreciate the beg screens embedded in the software. These days, a simple pic or negative editor is just not that sophisticated, as there are many basic free ones available. The app that comes with the scanner is not "free" in the sense that you're constantly being advertised at with beg screens to install more software. That is annoying and a turn off for me. More importantly however, it was difficult to take a clear pic of a negative. Of course the clarity of the pic depends on the clarity and sharpness of the negative you're scanning. I tired several different known clear detailed negatives I've previously made clear sharp prints from, but couldn't get the same clarity from the negative on this device. I was using an iPhone 14 Pro. The user manual explains everything in clear well written English, which is a plus. Unfortunately, while a good idea, it needs some refining to be a useful tool.

This is good for backups only since it's not a professional tool. It doesn't really give you a high quality scan, but it's still handy if you're prepared to correct things afterward. Do know photo editing adjustments for each image will likely be required because they're overly blue and reversed. So, this device isn't as much of a scanner as it is a light box that you can capture negatives with your phone's camera. Best for someone who is interested in preserving a few old family photos and no interested in high resolution prints. For a relatively low cost, it's a fast workflow for a backup of old memories. Convenient, but not exactly high-tech!

If you're like me and you either own or inherited (or both) a big stack of photo negatives, you really need this device. It took two minutes to set up, and start digitizing negatives. When we first got it on and had the phone's camera on, the picture did not look good. I realized that the phone camera was trying to equalize the black of the base with the light under the negative. We fixed that by zooming into the negative and the picture was wonderful. Once in the phone, a quick app helped us to turn the negative to a proper picture -- like magic!I'm so glad to now be able to preserve these memories -- and in a way that doesn't take up space. It's super easy to back them up as well, like any digital file. When I set up to complete this very big project, I think I'm also going to get a Bluetooth camera remote for my phone. That way I can set it on the device and not move it for the time I'm taking photos.Genius and easy.

Easy to use. Instant results. Trying to find services that concert negatives to police, digital images is quite difficult AND pricey. A little bit tedious in that you go one-by-one but it's worth it, especially for "long-forgotten" photos. It's thrilling, seeing those old shots once again. Convert, save, and share. Have prints made at so e place like Walgreens or any place that makes prints from digital images.
