I was shopping for my son in law who is just starting a career in electrical and HVAC. I thought it would be nice to get him high quality tools so they last him a lifetime. As the tools started arriving, I started evaluating them. I fell in love with the size and feel of these pliers.Earlier in the year, I had upgraded my old tools to the Irwin brand. I had no problem with Irwin pliers but the Knipex pliers (and other tools) aren't in the same class as Irwin. Knipex is far superior to anything you'll find at your local big box store.After receiving the first two or three models from Knipex, I decided that I would keep the Knipex tools and give my almost brand new Irwin tools to my son in law. After all, I don't know how well he will take care of his tools. I know that I take great care of my tools so why shouldn't I have the best of the best?These pliers (needle nose, crimping pliers, diagonal, bolt cutters, lineman, pump pliers, etc) are a great feel and work for better than the cheaper brands. I've always gotten by with what I had. You can make the cheap stuff work. But, after using the high quality tools for several projects, it's easy to see how much better they are. They work with less effort and hold things easier and tighter than the cheaper brands. They feel better in my hand and they grip/grab better on the items you're working with. It's one of those things - you don't know what you don't know.If you're a handyman or professional and can afford the Knipex tools, I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed.

Bought these for bracing larger pipes while removing fittings. Excellent grip and makes loosening fittings that much easier

These are the best pump pliers you can get imo. Well worth the money as they'll last for years with the toughest use. I won't be caught out without my 12in and 16in Knipex Cobras. They grip without crushing and never pinch your fingers. So much better than anything else I've tried over the past 20 years plumbing swimming pools and installing repairing pool pumps and filters.

I really like these Knipex Cobra pliers as well as their other tools.PROS*Super heavy duty. These are twice a thick/heavy/strong as other brands.*Very hard, durable metal teeth.*Grip as well as all other Cobra pliers. You only have to push on one handle leg, rather than 2. You don't have to squeeze with two hands and all your might as you do with other plier brands.CONS*XL is not large enough for 4in conduit couplings and connectors. See Knipex XXL or Channel Lock 480 Big-Azz pliers.*Expensive.*Not available with chrome plating.

KNIPEX and outstanding quality are synonymous!.German made quality with a cult following .The downside of a cult following is price and some of the ridiculous asking prices for some of their kit online.Amazon has made Knipex more affordable but it’s still overpriced!These pliers are excellent for any tradesmen for just about any heavy duty job.Welders,Plumbers,Mechanics and Fitters could all use this tool.The steel quality seems great and a lot of forethought has gone into redesigning every aspect of their tools.

best of the best. monster of a tool. 16 inch is bigger than you think.. most will be happy with a 12". i have both, but when you need bigger, you need it and nothing else will do.as for the cobra vs the orig alligator... once you get use to the button, you will like it better. the alligator is a bit more versatile in one-handed adjust situations, but that is where it ends. i definitely like the more adjustments and locking of the cobra. now on a 16 inch, well the one handed advantage of the 12 inch alligator is not there. you are not going to adjust a 16 inch alligator with one hand. so the advantage of the cobra is the only issue in this size.
