I didn't expect much when after purchasing everyone told me it was very basic, at only 600 dpi. ? I didn't even really know what it meant! I have scanned 70 years worth of my mothers photos and they have all come out really good. Not great, not professional quality, but certainly more than what I expected. some have small dots or line, but overall I am thrilled with this machine!

This is a terrible project. It worked okay for about 300 scans; even then, though, it is difficult to work with because it doesn't connect well to a computer. However, on the fourth day I was using it, it simply quit creating images. It went through the process of scanning but nothing showed up on the disk. I got no error messages, it just kept producing a completely blank SD card. The worst part, though, is that you can get no help from the manufacturer. There is an 800 number but when you call it you get a series of bizarre and annoying advertisements and no way to get to a live person for help. Five stars to Amazon for taking this product back with no hassle. I got the VuPoint Magic Wand instead. It was a bit more expensive, but I have now scanned thousands of photos on it and it's working very well. Spend a bit of extra money for a quality project.

Seems like a nice small, portable unit. Scanned about 40 photos and it had to be cleaned because lines were showing up on scans. Worked fine after it was cleaned.Hope it lasts through all my photos because it is easy to use. After using it more, I found that the plastic sleeve is wearing out and Kodak does not make the sleeves any longer. So it appears that the scanner is useless at this point.Only scanned about 200 photos which means the scans cost about $.33 each and I am unable to do any more.

I had a bunch of old photos I was being lazy about scanning on my flatbed, so I decided to try this. So far, I'm very satisfied. I've done about 45 so far - after receiving it in the mail today as well. The only things I've noticed is it's not as good on newer photos, not sure why yet. It does a pretty good job on older photos, and that's mainly what I needed it for :) My mom has hundreds more old photos that i want to get scanned for all to share. This will do the job nicely!

Love this scanner! One of my all time greatest purchases. It scans photos quickly and with quality. I have scanned literally hundreds of very old family photos and then edited them to bring "back to life". This little scanner did a MUCH better job than my expensive HP scanner I was originally trying to use. Family members dropped off photos & i was able to scan their photos within minutes and give their photos right back to them! Scanning the photos onto SD cards is the way to go, and then loading the cards onto the computer to edit. This little scanner has saved me more hours than I can imagine and many more in frustration! So easy to use, and the price is well worth it! Only problem I`ve come across is trying to scan old Polaroids with the thick backing, BUT the directions warn you of this potential problem in advance. Thickness can be an issue, but up to 5x7 flat photos scan clearly and with no issues!

This is a great little scanner, easy to use and the scan quality is good. You can scan away all day without even having the scanner hooked up to your computer. It saves the photos to an SD card so you can download the scanned photos later. I love it! Highly recommended. Also, I was happy with the seller.

OK, this is one of the best products I've ever bought. Way reasonably priced and the time I've saved digitizing 100's of pictures makes it worth every penny. So simple to use too. Faced with 100s upon 100s of old pics in boxes in the basement, I wanted to get them on a computer so I could share with kids and family easily. The flat platen screen on my printer scanner is soooo slow. I got this, hoping, the ad was right. It was! You just put each pic (takes up to 5x7) through into the slot and the little machine takes over. Poof, you get a perfect image that you can zoom in on, crop and enlarge--anything to on the screen. Great!! All of my larger 8x10s still go on the computer flat platen glass but this cut my copy time by 70%. Kudos!

I have mountains of older photograph albums to scan. Pictures date from early 1900s to Year 2000. I found that the black and white scanning was pretty good and handled all sizes of photos (must use the sleave on small photos). The color photo scans lost a lot of color and all looked washed out, even the photos from 1990s. I had expected somewhat of the opposite. If you don't use the sleeve, you have to be very careful that the photo scans evenly (not crooked). It is easy to feed in crooked. Also, the cables in the back get in the way of scanning, so you have to be careful how you arrange the scanner and the cables. All in all, not useful for any color photoes. Use only for Black & White.I will have to use another scanner for color, or use this scanner and adjust each photo's color level.Hope this helps.

Tried the Kodak 460 1st (not from Amazon). One was DOA and the other one had scan lines from the 1st scan and could not be fixed. This one has worked from the start. Have scanned in over 200 pictures at my parent's house. Actually my 8 and 10 year old did most of the scanning. When scan lines appear it takes about one minute to clean the sensor. The only small issue is that there is no way for you to set the scan area. What I noticed was that it crops rectangles only which means if you are scanning the old instamatic prints that had rounded edges, the edges were cropped but it was like a 16th of an inch on each of the sides. This is a good product to scan lots of photos cheaply. Much faster than a flatbed. This plus a netbook makes a fantasitic portable scan setup that fits in a backpack. All scanners of this type will have to be cleaned frequently because the photos are going to have dust and other stuff that will get stuck on the scan head.A few tips:Scan directly to your computer and look at each picture right after it is scanned because after 75-100 photos you will have to clean the sensor because of scan lines. Better to know right away than later and having to redo a bunch of scans. To scan irregular shapped photos or fix cropping issues(sometimes cause by dark backgrounds, etc) place a white piece of paper in the plastic sheath and put the picture on top of the piece of paper. You will get a large size scan but can crop later.
