The part is fine. My complaint is that we’ve had this digital shower for a little over 5 years now. We have now started replacing the replacements (which were provided under warranty). This is about a 2 year part for us. If you have a digital shower I’d recommend 1) learning how to maintain it yourself, and 2) always keeping one of these valves in your toolbox. You WILL need it.

If you have the fancy Kohler Showers like I do and have a plumber that used steel galvanized unions on copper pipe, you will need these. The unions rusted and made all 3 or these valves fail in my unit.Bought the replacements from Amazon, tore down the unit, replaced the corroded steel unions with proper ones and I have my shower backIt can be tricky to replace, but it you are careful, take photos and dont get parts mixed up, it can be done without a plumber.

This was the exact replacement part for my Kohler K-682, 6 port electronic valve. The valve housing has a sticker on the outside that says "no user replaceable parts inside".However, if you have a mechanical/electrical/plumbing background then you will find this valve is easily repaired...I would not recommend the average home owner trying to repair it though.

Relatively speaking, there is probably only a handful of people with Kohler's electronic shower setup. I love it, but I would not do it again. When one of the shower heads stopped working, it took a while to realize that the electrostatic valve was the problem and not some other plumbing issue. Kohler suggested replacing the solenoid so I did. It is not that hard, but it was not easy either. You must pretty much dismantle the entire valve to replace the one solenoid. Took me about 3 hours. If I had to do it again, I could probably do it in an hour. Few tools needed, but one is not common--a #15 star drive. Once you disconnect all the plumbing (yes, ALL), and clean up the water (the worst part), you have to remove the solenoid stack from the valve box. The middle solenoid was bad so I had to take most of the stack apart and then reassemble. That went smoothly and Kohler includes all new O rings and screws for the job. It would be good for them to include the star drive as it is a cheap tool. I happened to have one from replacing a TiVo hard drive a few years back and the company that made the upgrade kit included the star drive with their hard drive. After reassembling a testing the system, everything worked great!
