I have a French bulldog, and I have to admit that he still hasn't torn this apart. It is just the right size for him. It says small and it is, The double layer construction makes it quite durable. That being said, my Frenchie isn't the norm for tearinfthings up. He's usually fairly good with his toys. He chews on this consistently, though and hasn't put holes in it and we've had it for 5 months.

My dog LOVES these. My small 12lb dog is a heavy chewer, and usually has the tail off and swallowed within 5 minutes. So we've taken to cutting it off first to avoid issues. Comes off cleanly, no holes left behind, and then he can enjoy it for a few months until it's gross enough we buy another. :) If it weren't for the easy-to-swallow tail it'd be 5 stars for sure.

Although nothing cushie is totally resistant to a dog's determination to destroy something, this toy lasts a long time and is built quite sturdy

We should have stock in Kong with as many of these my dog has gone through. This is her one “security blanket” toy, and she takes out her anxious chewing on it. Eventually she will rip out the stuffing and need a replacement, but it’s way cheaper than new doors for my house. All my other dog-owning friends have this alligator too. It’s a huge hit with the canines!

Had one of these with my schnauzer that lasted for years, but she was only a light chewer and did not really play tug.Our new dog is a 1 year old retriever mix and she destroyed this in only a few play sessions. I tried stitching it back up several times with heavy duty upholstery thread after the first few fluffs were pulled out but it is very small and not worth the time since she just tore it open somewhere else right away.Sad, because she really loves chewing on softies but she destroys them all too quickly.Giving this a 3 star average rating cuz it worked great for my other dog, but is not good for super chewers.
