Great speakers for the price!Coming from A5x by Adam and prefer these as a more full bodied sound. Maybe slight less clinical highs, but I prefer these for working on low mids. Definitely not as harsh and they help me work harder on "mud".Working in a well treated room, but still classic undesirable home studio. Not sure I'd get much better monitoring with much more expensive speakers?Yes, there is a slight hum when nothing is playing. Grossly overstated in reviews once you turn down -10 db (they ship at hotter levels for stores).Unless you need something incredible, pro ready... these a solid. Especially if you can get these on deal, don't hesitate. I bought a pair for 800

The minute you turn them on, there is an audible hissing sound. Even without audio cables plugged in and low volume. Sent back to Amazon.

This is my second set of KRK monitors. The first set was lost in a fire. The 8” woofer provides full range punchy bass without a subwoofer. The tweeter is magnificent. Like my last KRKs they reveal details in recordings that I’ve never been able to discern before. I have a bit of top end hearing loss so these monitors may sound hot to some people. While I do use them for music recording my needs are not as critical as some people’s these monitors are perfect for me. In addition to the sound they provide a lot of adjustments via controls on the back panel. Definitely a 1 star product.1/24 Update - Without needless boring details, the fire other matters kept me from looking at the KRK V8S4 that had arrived DOA and was installed after the warranty period due to the fire. I finally got around to opening it up and found that the amplifier board which is integrated in to the back board of the speaker had never been connected to the wiring harness of the drivers. In other words the thing wouldn't work because someone at the factory forgot to make a basic connection. Of course there are QC labels in the unit which are obviously meaningless. Gibson USA the maker of KRK has been having QC problems for years with their guitars. Obviously the poor manufacturing is being carried over into their other products. Waste around $800.

I love those KRK V6 monitors. They sound fantastic, the response curve is flat enough, and the adjustments on the back of the speakers do what I expect them to, and they're powered speakers which is even better. They're not small by any means, but they sit perfectly on speaker stands in my home studio. I would absolutely buy again (in fact, I have, this is my second pair - one pair for the recording studio and another pair at home.)

Sound quality is the best I've found at that size. Almost as good as the JBL 305 or 308, but at a more compact 4" size. Much better than the Presonus Eris 4.5 (which sound tonally correct but boxy and bright to me). Vocals and detail are excellent (albeit the JBL 305 has the best vocals I've ever heard) without sibilance (a major improvement over the annoyngly sibilant iLoud and Genelec 8010A). There is some mild hiss because the KRK use class D amplifiers. The hiss can be lowered by flipping the -10 dB switch to + 4 dB at the back of the speaker. It can be eliminted by using a XLR source. I used a 3.5 mm stereo (from my PC) to dual XLR cable, and got an annoying buzz when my GPU was in use. I got a Fiio USB DAC with a balanced out, and plugged that in the XLR inputs, and the buzz was gone. What I really enjoy about the KRK is that they are not harsh or fatiguing (a problem with most 4" studio monitors on the market). They reproduce high frequencies but do not exagerate them. I returned the Genelec 8010A, iLoud Micro Monitors, JBL 104 and Presonus Eris 4.5 because they had harsh and fatiguing treble. Piano may have been 100% tonally correct on the Genelec, but I could not stand the harshness and sibilance. I find the KRK much better overall and my search is over - I am quite happy with this pair of KRK V4S4. Electricity consumption is about 7 watts per speaker at 50% volume.PS: The first speaker I got had port noise / resonance when playing some low frequencies. It is not audible in most music, but when playing piano music with low notes (such as "In the pines" by Brad Jacobsen or "Probleme de emotion" by Igorr) this resonant noise was very audible and annoying. I ordered a replacement and it does not have this issue.

These are a great upgrade of the VxT8s. Very solid and consistent sound quality (nice highs and extremely great lows), very flat and real. Eq options are also great with very easy adjustment. Speakers look and feel great and for this price point provides a very professional sound.

Accurate and high quality sound. durable and well made product. Descent bass response despite what other's say, and i'm using this for hip hop and electronic dance music in my home studio with no additional sub. Would highly recommend over the regular KRK 6" model which I purchased originally then returned for these bad boys.
