Ride Comfort may be important, but restoring a vehicle’s Ride Control; stability, stopping, lane change responsiveness and handling is critical. KYB Excel-G Shocks & Struts are designed for the most important performance purpose: Restoring the vehicle’s original capabilities. KYB is a world leading supplier of shocks and struts to new vehicle manufacturers and the Excel-G is made on the very same KYB OE assembly lines, uses the same OE quality components and is calibrated to restore original, designed performance, not change it. That has earned Excel-G the classification: OEA (Original Equipment for the Aftermarket). The KYB Excel-G is a nitrogen gas-charged, twin-tube design that includes every quality component that our global OEM products include.

These are acceptable quality both on-road and off-road. I would like shocks that were a little more compliant over bumps, but these are good enough and are not unsettled by rough road conditions. These shocks have about an inch longer travel than the stock Toyota Rav4 shocks and extend the downward travel of the Rav4 rear wheels by a bit over an inch. I used them in combination with a spacer lift to provide additional rear wheel travel that made up for the travel lost when I added the rear spacers. To mount them, the lower mounting stud needs to be cleaned of all rust and paint and lubricated as the fitment of the lower mount hole is very slightly smaller than the stock unit. They will fit, but it was notably tighter than the stock unit that I removed.

Installation was a bit of a nightmare since the nuts that came with the shocks weren't a good fit. I stripped the one shock pretty badly since the nuts kept cross threading. DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION WITH HAND TOOLS! You absolutely need an impact wrench otherwise you will be frustrated as the shock spins in a circle as you attempt to tighten them with a wrench. You must secure the shock using quick bursts that spin the nut before the shock has a chance to rotate. If you use continuous rotation not only will the shock spin, you will strip it.One of the shocks was also missing some hardware but I used the original hardware so it wasn't a huge issue.Ride performance was drastically improved so I can't hate these shocks, good performance for the price. Still, it should've been a 15 minute job but it took hours and I could only complete it because the original Ford hardware was on hand.

Shock came in a destroyed box and missing more than half the parts it was supposed to come with. Now I have to go buy another shock

2007 Ford Escape Limited purchased used in 2014. I've been unhappy with the sloppy handling for a while. The right rear shock developed a "clunk" so I decided to replace both rear shocks. Not only were the bushings shot, someone had replaced the original shocks with a pair of Gabriels. With the KYB shocks installed (which was pretty easy) I'm VERY happy with the ride quality and handling. The Escape feels better than ever. I also own a 2015 Mustang, so that's saying a lot. Buy the KYB shocks. You won't regret it!

I purchased these back in November and I'm glad I put them on before this winter, because the roads in northeast PA have suffered a lot of damage from freezing and thawing. The shocks work great, they are the exact same shocks that you will find at the auto store for double the price. I was able to buy two for what it would have cost me for one at the auto store. I recommend this product.

Bought these for the rear of my Ford Escape. I've used KYB replacement shocks on both of my other vehicles, and find them to be cheap as most anything else (on Amazon, of course). They are equal to or better than OEM shocks and always work & ride great.I've not had a problem with any KYB shock/strut on my car, truck, or SUV.

KYB has always been a good choice when it's time to replace shocks. There better then OME and give a noticeably better ride. Installing them on my 2003 Ford Escape was a challenge but it was worth all the trouble. When it's time or you just want a better ride you can't go wrong with this product.
