About this item

  • Maximum performance upgrade with up to 40% more damping performance than standard shock absorbers
  • Perfect solution when you need to upgrade suspension performance on your GM truck
  • Truck monotube design outperforms all other standard shock absorbers
  • Zinc-coated, stainless steel piston ring provides a positive seal in the most extreme conditions
  • Rubber boot to protect the shaft and keep dirt and debris away from the seals
  • Fit type: Vehicle Specific

Tough conditions demand tough truck shocks. The large bore KYB MonoMax provides the additional stability that heavier, more powerful or high center of gravity vehicles demand. The KYB MonoMax is a heavy duty monotube shock absorber that provides the most handling, control and durability of any KYB shock; and it’s just for trucks. The MonoMax’s tough design automatically adjusts to driving conditions with fade-free performance. The KYB MonoMax has an outstanding reputation for vehicles that do real work, go off-road, tow a trailer or haul heavy loads. It uses a work-ready, zinc-coated steel piston ring and includes an off-road dust boot.

I like these shocks very much. They add that extra stiffness to the back of the truck while pulling my trailer

Good control, truck handles much better that before. The ride is stiff, however. For same control with a smoother ride, wish I'd spent more to get the Bilsteins instead of grabbing these at a sale price.

Got them on clearance from here. Cannot beat the price.Easy to install and they are durable and have improved my trucks capabilities 100x.If you have a Ram 1500 you’ll probably need a crows foot wrench to get a nut out on the passenger side.Highly recommended!

Easy to put on. Video was excellent and clear to understand. Definitely need a 21 mm or 13/16 sae crows foot wrench. Makes loosening the back top nut so much easier.

Replaced original shocks on my 2011 ram 1500. I replaced my factory spring /levelling kit to a tall variable rate spring. All together nice upgrade even without weight it’s not too stiff. Had to make my own stubby wrench for the top bolt. Took the advice of previous reviewers and tightened the mount so there was no gap for the shock at the top to Prevent clunking. Excited to see how towing my 8000lb travel trailer this summer will be.

Easy install on the 07 Ram 1500 , penetrating oil the day before and the old hardware was fine , really impressed by the ride, corners fell more sure footed , smoother ride for sure over the worn out OEM . Seemed a little heavier than the originals . I think they are a really good shock !

Easy install. I didn't have my sockets with me, and I managed to get this done in less than 2 hours with a pair of crescent wrenches (too excited to wait). No need for a jack or anything. Pull the two bolts out, replace shock, and bolt everything back up 1 out of 5 for difficulty.I've been trying to reduce the sway in my 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD when I have my lance lite 820 truck camper in the bed. The truck only has 60k, but it's 16 years old. I've been doing lots of camp trips this year due to COVID, and the aggressive driving through riverside was stressing me out. The biggest bang for the buck was the lower control arm bumpers. I went with the heavy duty Moog's. That made a huge difference, and with these installed the handling is better than it's ever been. I have the front shocks, but I've been installing upgrades one by one so I can see what has the biggest bang for the buck. I wasn't sure if I needed fresh shocks with low miles, but the one rear shock was completely blown, and the other was returning very slowly.I'm not sure how these will ride without the truck loaded, but the truck rode rough before, so I'm hoping for about the same.

I was installing air bags at the same time. The shocks and the airbags work very well together. Super simple to install on my Ram 1500 4x4. I was worried about a rougher ride with the heavy duty shocks but that is not the case. The ride is actually much smoother and riding over potholes and washboards seems to be easier and quieter. Very impressed.

Application is 2001-2010 Chevy/GMC 2500HD 4WD pickup (Duramax), no lift, 275/60-20 tires:I've tried Bilstein 5100 and Rancho RS9000XL shocks and was so disappointed with both that I removed them with less than 20K miles each. Neither provided sufficient rebound control to stop truck movement after a moderate compression such as a high-speed dip or traffic hump, etc. resulting in a wallow and unstable feel. The KYB shocks are outstanding, even more plush (for a HD truck) over bumps, rail road tracks, etc. and the feeling of stability is excellent, absolutely no excess body movement after compression. Even a noticeably better feel when turning. These shocks are significantly cheaper than the other high-end/popular choices and actually perform. Nothing "looks" as heavy duty as the RS9000XL shock however; which has the largest body, shaft, and nicest looking hardware (and by far the most expensive), but the KYB performance, independent of cost, is the best I've found. I decided to try KYB after after installing KYB Gas-Adjust shocks/struts on my son's Tacoma.
