I like that I can get a pool temp readout in my house but these seem to last about 18 months before the seals fail. If you buy the replacement insurance you can just submit a claim.

Very good working thermometer. We have had it in our above ground pool for 2 seasons now. The only thing that you must realize is that it reads the temperature at the very top surface of the water. So if the pump isn’t running or people aren’t swimming in it to move water around, it’s definitely not the temperature you think it is when jumping in ! Top surface of the water is usually much warmer. The batteries last the whole season, which is about 4 4 1/2 months here. The display on top of the unit is descent however hard to read on a sunny day. I mostly use the app to see what the temperature is, which really is convenient. We tie it off to a porch post to keep it from becoming a pool toy, ha!Highly recommend, especially for the fair price!

This is the 3rd unit I have had over the last few years. Unfortunately they always Fail after 9 months to 15 months. Either the display begins to crack & fade from the sun, or it leaks. In the end the display always gives up. I am now going to purchase the Govee thermometer & give that a try.

I already have a weather station with several temperature probes. I had a separate network for the pool and the hot tub. But those sensors tended to fail after about a year. I’ve had these sensors for about a month and so far, I really like them.

Battery powered pool thermometer connects to your WiFi and allows you to view pool temp from your phone via the La Crosse View App or from the digital display on top of the thermometer. Works as advertised, was easy to set up, and love the convenience. I was also able to set up notifications for when my pool temp increases to my minimum swimming temperature of 80F so I know pool season has begun, and when the temp decreases below 80F so I know not to take the polar plunge.

Using to monitor hot tub temps on the app. Appears to be about a degree off from the hot tub's own gauge (unsurprising given that temp is taken near the heater and this is on the "surface"), and I couldn't get it connected to the base station, but otherwise works well.

I'm using this in a swim spa with a very thick and heavy cover. The device seems to work fine through that cover. However, the readings do some strange and unrealistic spikes. This tub is set for 80 degrees. It takes hours for a tub this size to change much, but the graph shows these momentary spikes to nearly 100 degrees. It's not the jets causing it as in most swimspa's, including this one, the jets are all at one end and they'd push this device to the other end immediately. Just a glitch I guess.

Be very cautious when using this product. In theory the product works great. Allowing you to see the temperature of your pool from your phone or on your La Crosse base station. I had a bad feeling about the device after seeing the battery compartment was at the bottom of the device where it will be completely submerged in water. Batteries seemed to last for about 6 month before needing to be changed. I would say it worked for about 8 months before what I can only assume is water got into the battery compartment and completely fried the unit. If at all possible I would have tried to put the waterproofing part toward the top where it wouldn't have been completely submerged in water, but I'm not an engineer so I'm not sure if it would have been possible.
