I haven't used a punch like this before but this was just what I expected it to be. It's sharp and punched through the leather easily. It makes nice neat holes for sewing.

Goes through leather like butter and leaves a clean tiny hole.

I bought this single prong punch because my other sets lack one. A single prong is most useful on tight curves and I have been managing with the two prong punches which don't always work so well when the curves are tight. It works with all my sets from 4-5mm widths.I used this yesterday and am satisfied with it. It seems sturdy and the prong does not look flimsy. It punches well. I do not need to use the mallet on it more than once to get it to go through a 5oz leather. Since I mainly use leather of 5-6 oz, I am happy with this. I am planning to order the long 10 prong punch soon.

Photos show U.S. Quarter Dollar and Ruler for sizing references. This 5 tine leather stitching punch covers roughly 5/8 inch center hole to center hole. Supplier notes 4mm hole size, and those holes are diamond shaped. I do like the finger notches (grooves) near the punch head as it seems to make positioning the tool for striking with a maul a bit easier. Although I find pricing at $14USD for the 5 tine model to be a bit on the high side, I still believe this item delivers reasonably good value.I hope you found my photos and comments beneficial in your considerations. Thanks for checking!

I have smaller leather punches, and I struggle with keeping the holes lined up on the leather. This 10-tine leather punch should help me stay more in line. I tested it on some scrap leather, and was able to get 10 clean holes through 2 layers of leather. When I sewed, the needle passed smoothly through both layers. Having this larger leather punch will allow me to focus on practicing stitch tension rather than hole punching. I'm very happy with how well this leather punch functions!

Very handy tool for punching lacing holes in leather. I am not a professional leather worker, so I don't know if this tool is made to the standard a pro would expect. But for me, this is really great. I sew the occasional leather item for myself and this feels like a huge upgrade over my previous methods. Love it. Nice size, comes in a good plastic case and it makes equidistant holes in the material to make sewing easier.
