Keep in mind I’m reviewing this hood in this on and off heatwave that’s happening up here on the North Coast- it’s plenty thick enough (the leather outer shell) but has a less than helpful inner lining that appears to be thin canvas. Whatever it is, it makes the whole thing kind of hot. Tried it out earlier today cutting off aluminum parts in an engine bay. Of course that was after I caught a shower of sparks bouncing off the hood and onto my bare shaved head. Ouch.But I decided to wait on doing more work in the engine bay until tomorrow when it should be about 20 degrees cooler, and I can wear the hood without having sweat pouring into my eyes.It’ll be great for welding, which tends to be a work-in-the-basement-during-the-fall-and-winter sort of thing.Works great, just a little hot to wear in this heat & humidity.Easy on easy off with Velcro fastener. Makes wearing my cheapo welding helmet pretty tight, but it’s doable. Not sure what leather process was used, but it’s kinda stinky. Hopefully that will fade now that it’s out of the shipping bag.

This hood is easy to drape around and secure. Feels good - no rough spots against the skin. Seems thick enough to provide good protection. Not too stiff.

I do minor diy welding, but after a couple of issues and injuries, im trying to get as much protection as possible. This hood is very this, real heavy duty leather, not expecting anything to get through it easily. Its held in place with hook and loop pads, the welding mask fits well on top of it. Definitely a good piece of safety gear

• Style, brand and version:-Brand: ONETIAN-Style: Leather Welding Hood•Overall Impression:-This is a very well made, high quality leather welding hood. It's more of a soft suede vs stiffer smooth hard leather. It provides coverage of the neck, and head covers the collar and neck area.• What’s Included:-1 leather welding hood-1 leather pouch• Size:-1 size, no selectable size-My husband has a very large head and neck, and often hats, hoods and collars are too small or too tight. He found the size comfortable and to fit well on the head and allow for full closure on the neck area. It wasn’t too tight on the neck or the head for him. He wears about an 18 shirt collar.• Pros-what I liked and what worked well:-The leather is really nice. It's very high quality and soft. It's not a stiff, hard leather (like on a chair or leather jacket), but more of a soft almost velvety suede like leather. This leather was so nice, it was the kind I'd be pleased to see in clothing or accessories in a jacket, skirt or handbag. It's that kind of leather soft suede that when you see and feel you know it's high quality.-The hood (but not neck wrap) has an inner fabric liner.-The stitching on the hood is well done and should hold up well.-The collar has velcro closure and is easy to secure and secures well.-The hood fits those with larger heads and necks well.-Gives full coverage to the head and neck and collar area.-The pouch is also made from the same leather, is well made and has a sturdy metal clamp on it (to secure to your belt or pants loop).-Has no unpleasant scent to it. It actually smells wonderful. Like a very fine leather shop but not chemically, but like a very nice natural leather.• Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well:-It came in just a standard plastic bag with a mailing label to me on it, no outer carton or bag of any sort.-The inner hood liner material is nice and sturdy, but could be a bit softer. It’s not too rough, but it could have been a bit softer.• Tips & Thoughts:-You'll still need a welding smock for more protection, this only covers the head and neck collar area.-You'll still need a welding hood mask style to protect your face from light, and heat and to protect your eyes. This does not come with any items or have a way to protect your eyes and face.
