I have many Christmas village pieces but this one has a detachable light bulb situation? And it's not battery-operated at all because it needs to be plugged in. You have to install this light bulb yourself (think of a bulb for a small lamp) and it actually comes with a fuse. Perhaps the Lemax brand is not for me since this is my first lemax piece, but I do feel it was mis-represented. The piece is pretty but not at all what I expected.
