Update: After using this for a few weeks, I'm bumping it up a star. While it still gets hot enough that I wouldn't be comfortable leaving it powered overnight, it turns out that a lot of the heat that made it really scary was from the adapter I had it plugged into rather than the wireless adapter itself. Also, I've discovered that this works really, really well with a small power bank, an HDMI to USB-C adapter, and a set of AR glasses to have a pocketable screencasting setup for anything with an HDMI output.Original Review:Pros:-Latency much better than expected. My normal latency test is playing through the opening stage of Megaman X3 and seeing how "wrong" things feel, and playing from the next room over didn't feel weird at all... at least as far as the controls.-No setup was required. The 2 were paired right out of the box.Cons:-30Hz picture. A lot of retro games use a 60Hz sprite flicker effect, so this refresh rate means that the sprites flickering at 60Hz are either completely invisible or completely solid instead of looking transparent.-Gets HOT even after fairly brief usage. I was originally considering leaving this plugged into the monitor permanently, but I'd be concerned of a catastrophic meltdown if left powered overnight to say nothing of the power draw.

First off, I have to say I'm a bit concerned about the HDMI plug side getting really hot within seconds of use. It's got me worried about the potential fire hazard that might pose. As for the image quality, it's alright, nothing too mind-blowing. I did notice that there's not much delay, which is a plus, especially when it comes to streaming video or presentations. However, there's a bit of a downside too - those mosaic artifacts that pop up occasionally. They can be a bit distracting, especially if you're trying to enjoy a movie or focus on a presentation. On the plus side, the wireless setup itself is quite convenient. No more tangling cables or limited range - you've got the freedom to move around without being tied down. This makes it a good fit for different scenarios like home theater setups, office meetings, lectures, and educational settings. But coming back to that heat issue - I think it's something that needs attention. While the convenience of wireless streaming is great, it shouldn't come at the risk of potential overheating or fire hazards.

Within its advertised limitations, this product works very well. "Installation" was easy. Out of the box, mine required pairing, which the documentation suggested was not always necessary. Not a big deal as the pairing was simple and worked according to the online instructions. Once paired, repeating the process should not be needed. My first test was from my Macbook Air to a PC monitor, using a USB-C to HDMI adapter on the Macbook, with the wireless transmitter plugged into the adapter's HDMI port. The display came up within a few seconds and looked great. There is a bit of a transmission lag, so forget about gaming (well, solitaire would be OK). For movies, the lag is not an issue. I did notice some video judder when the distance between the TX and RX adapters was increased (~2 rooms apart via open space). Moving further apart (or closing doors between the rooms) made for unwatchable video, but still a fairly stable image for still image applications. You'll want line of sight from TX to RX for the best experience. Protected content requiring HDCP played fine as well.Next I tried a Roku source to two different 4K TV's, and this also worked well. Picture quality was not visibly degraded, so their compression scheme must be top notch. One configuration I could not get to work was passing the signal through an AVR (i.e. HDMI wireless from a Roku to an input of the AVR, and a wired HDMI from the AVR to the display). In that case the image was black, although audio was present at the AVR. I got the same result with two different AVRs. This maybe a corner case usage, but I kinda expected it to work - so beware if you care about this one.The devices use a standard 5GHz WiFi channel for their operation, which could in theory cause interference with other network devices but in practice this seems unlikely given smart routers should avoid using conflicting channels. For occasional use, given its ease of use and portability, this wireless TX/RX pair is a great solution.
