I took the bag on safari in Botswana and it helped me get some very great bird shots. It sat well on the vehicle's arm rest and on the camera bag. The plate was useful to mount a gimball. I got some equipment envy stares but most importantly the shots I got with my 600 mm lens were better because of the bag, tac sharp. With a 2X converter I could go to 1200 mm and that would be worthless without the bag.

I purchased this bean bag to replace a Kinesis Safari bag that I returned without use due to dissatisfaction with its apparent build quality. At the start of the process I hadn't expected to need to spend so much on a bean bag.I avoided the much cheaper products offered on Amazon, some of which may have been fine.I have a big trip planned, and I'm using expensive gear that I want to protect, and have the best possible chance off getting good results.The LensCoat offer through Amazon was OK (some prices offered were simply crazy!) and the product is excellent - very well made and does everything it's supposed to.A good example of: "you gets what you pays for", I guess.

With my husband being a hobbyist photographer who enjoys taking pictures of landscapes and wildlife, he was looking for something to keep in his truck so he could shoot pictures from his window.
