I purchased a lenscoat for my 500mm prime many years ago and I was very impressed. It kept the lens in pristine condition and was well made. This lenscoat doesn’t seem to have been made with the same attention to detail. The stitching on the hood cover was poorly executed and I’ve had to stitch it myself in those areas to ensure it doesn’t split. A plastic window covering the extender lever seems like a play at comedy. Yes, the lens is now more protected from bumps and scrapes but I feel that lenscoat have let their standards slip over the years.

It fits fine, design could be improved by making it more precise to the lens openings and removing clear plastic. Quality of material is good. It is very expensive for what you get. Good protection to protect your lens.

This fit the lens very poorly. All the pieces leave gaps, exposing the lens where the moving parts. That kinda defeats the purpose...I have several lens coat products and like them, but this is in sore need of a redesign

on the Amazon scale - 3 stars is Okay and 2 stars is I Like It. I agree with the other review that this is not as good as other lens coats, but I wouldn't ever recommend not having one. I love lens coats and use them on the big glass. I did carefully remove the clear covers over the IS settings (that was a close call) and over the TC switch (that was absolutely necessary). I also could not use the lens properly with the coats over the focus and zoom rings. Otherwise, the coat is intact and in use. So I guess that means that is is Okay - but since I wouldn't go on an expedition without it I am quite torn. I do like them - just think that this one could be better.

While they are expensive, I generally liked the product until this one. I own it for a couple of other big zoom lenses I own. I purchased online from another retailer, but zoom in on the product photo and you will see what the problems with this coat version are. On the fourth ring from the camera end, you will see that the AF sliders logo is completely obscured, this actually has three settings and its hard to set them without being able to see the label. So not usable. The very second one from the camera end has a window, but sliding that teleconverter is close to impossible. This ring merits the stick on treatment like the lens collar for correct operation. The one on the focus ring as you can see completely obscures the zoom markings for the next ring, but this was an issue with the 70 - 200 lens I have too. Since my 300mm is a fixed focal length that was not an issue. And the windows were more accurate on that too. Having a window a half inch too small is inexcusable in a product that costs this much.
