I bought this for one purpose only. To make my 70-300 white lens less conspicuous in Machu Picchu, where they have a reputation for being a little heavy-handed about 'security', and reputedly long lenses will land you a fine in the form of a professional's permit. I suppose it met the goal, and leaves the lens looking mostly black. This coat is in many pieces that fly in loose formation over your lens as a series of fabric-covered elastic bands (like thin mouse-mat material). My beef is that the holes for the switches on the barrel for autofocus, stabilizer, etc just don't line up. Additionally, this same band continuously slips down the slope of the barrel towards the camera because it doesn't seem to be wide enough to stay in place.Having used it for several days on a trip, I didn't feel I could return it used, so I contacted the manufacturer. I sent them photos. I offered them suggestions for improvement. I got the rather unhelpful response "We received the photos thanks. When we have he lens in hand we will take another look at it." (sic). So it appears to me that they must design these without a physical lens to hand. No wonder they don't fit!Now that I have written this, I think will just return it anyway and let Amazon deal with the consequences. Yes it covers the lens, but so would a sweater.

Good things:Relatively easy to put on.Mostly hides the bright lens paintSpongy lycra like matrerial which reduces any untoward knocks and bumpsNot so good:Button cutouts don't line up making it hard to switch the right button without first rolling the coat back a bitThe coats creep - probably cause by placing in and removing from camera bag and the contours of the lens bodyThere are still stripes of the lens paint visible between the gaps of the different sectionsThe piece supplied to cover the extending part is too cumbersome to be usefulIn summaryGreat idea. Would be better if the cutout pattern for buttons and lens window was revised to line up. And properly to make the coat fit better and more usable. In short I would only put this coat on when going to a dubious place to take photos to reduce unwanted attention which I guess is its main intended purpose.
