The Lifetime Appliance 882699 Drive Gear Kit worked perfectly for my Whirlpool trash compactor. It was easy to install and the parts fit exactly as expected. This kit saved me the cost of hiring a professional repair service, and now my compactor is working like new again. Highly recommend this replacement kit for anyone needing to repair their trash compactor!

I’ve had this replacement gear installed in my trash compactor for less than two months and it has already failed. The tips of several teeth have worn or broken off, not allowing contact with the drive gear. The product is clearly poorly made and when I requested a refund from the seller, they told me that is not their practice. They offered to allow me to order the same part again and they would refund the new order. I don’t want to buy another part that will not last so I am moving on.

The plunger on our KitchenAid trash compactor stopped working because one of the drive gears broke. I tried to get a part from various places but it was out of stock. Amazon delivered it in 4 days of placing the order. The parts fit perfectly. You tube video for instaiwas priceless

Less expensive generic replacement for plastic compactor parts. Fit well, as designed. Installation (after disassembly) was simple and proceeded smoothly. Instructions provided were minimal, though since it is likely you already had the compactor disassembeld prior to ordering the part, not considered an issue. Fit, finish and quality appeared similar to original parts. Hopefully will not be necessary, but would likely purchase again.

The large drive gear has a smaller diameter than the OEM gear which will cause the teeth to not fully mesh (as evidenced by the video uploaded by Larry Snow). I found that there is enough play in the motor mount holes to slightly adjust the motor such that the gears will fully mesh. If you don’t perform this adjustment, the gears will surely strip. I can only hope that the gears last as long as the OEM gears (~10 years). I’ll try to update this review if the gears fail prematurely.
