If you already have two pole saws, why order a third? Because this one has some attractive features. It is light weight, stores in a relatively small bag, and has blade hooks for both pushing and pulling branches hung up in a tree. In addition, while the assembled pole will never win any awards for being straight, it is stiff enough that you can make under cuts with it before making a top cut. Its longevity remains to be seen as it is homeowner grade in both construction and materials.When I first opened the bag and saw the threads on the top end of the sections, I became concerned. The threads are few in number and not very deep; however, once two sections are screwed together the plastic reinforced joint is solid. Not sure how important the plastic joint covers are to the joint and how long they will last.The top section of the pole slides into and is bolted to a steel transition piece between the aluminum pole and the saw blade. Two bolts secure the saw blade to the transition piece. What was clearly intended to be a positive design feature I find to be a negative. The transition piece was made long enough to accommodate the included rubber handle so you can use the blade and transition piece as a hand pruning saw. For me this design just adds unnecessary weight to the end of a long pole. I have enough hand saws and the best have sharper blades than the pole saw.

This pole saw is replacing my original, old one that had a wooden top, and a rope that you pull to cut branches. While that was more of a loper, this new saw uses the back and forth maneuver to actually saw the branchesThis pole saw is very light, and can be shortened, or lengthened, depending on the amount of poles you use. This has the capability to be over 14ft. In length or it can go down to as little as just a bit over 4ft. Even at 14 ft, the saw is light, and very manageable.I used this to prune my tall, peach tree, and in just a few minutes, the job was done. The saw teeth are pointed, and sharp ensuring a clean, and fast cut. I had no issues with the saw getting stuck in the cut branch, which was another huge benefit, from my old one.You get everything needed in the box, including a storage bag, and safety gloves. Installation is just a matter of screwing the poles together, and then screwing in the saw blade.This is a tool that you will find you use often.

The tree in the neighboring lot no longer has a branch pressing into my house's siding.* Lightweight and easy to handle* Very easy to add or remove pole sections as needed for a shorter or longer handle* Very reasonably priced option for pruning tree branches____ The Bad: _____* At longer lengths, the pole has quite a bit more flex then ideal* The included tools are not enough for assembly. You are going to need another wrench or a pair of pliers. This wouldn't be a big deal if assembly was only going to be a one-time affair, BUT:* You must unscrew and unbolt all hardware from the blade in order to fit it into the carry bag, so you're either going to need to add your own tool into the bag, or use something else to store and carry this.*

I will admit this is convenient and I will also admit it's light weight and yes, it will cut a tree branch. However, I have some concerns about it and I think they are too much to overlook. I'm starting this as a 4 star but the more I'm typing, it sure may get lower as I go. So let's talk about the good first.Good:- Can be broken down and stored in a small bag- The bag comes with the kit and that is always a plus- The blade is very sharp- It has a long reach with stainless steel polesBad:- There isn't a great way to link this many poles together and expect it to hold up well. And here we are talking about lots of movement and pressure that will flex constantly. I highly doubt that the plastic retainers will hold up without cracking. In fact, I would bet 2 stars they will crack and it won't take long.- If you assemble enough things you learn to appreciate the well made stuff. They tend to have details in construction and build. This doesn't really have that and it just looks cheap.- Everything fits in the bag, except when you attach the blade to the top handle piece. This is not a screw on item. It has bolts and once this part is assembled, it does not fit in the bag. It would be nice if it folded but no such luck.As I suspected, the more I typed the more I decided to lower this to 3 stars. So who is it for? Well, if you only have the occasional branch and you want to put everything in a bag until the next time, for you, this may be a 5 star item. But if you plan to use this here and there and may need it for several branches with height and girth, it's a solid 3.

I've been looking for a pole saw to handle a few limbs growing toward my roof awning, and this one got the job done.Assembly takes a bit of effort, but the upside is that it saves a ton of space in the garage or wherever you store it. Since it’ll spend most of its time in the included bag, that’s a good tradeoff. Speaking of the bag, it's made from heavy canvas and feels like it’ll outlast the saw itself (or at least the pole). And unlike the bags that come with sleeping bags or tents, where it feels like you need a degree in origami to make everything fit, this one actually fits the saw parts easily.Now, the pole does have some flex. I had to go easy and let the saw do the work. If you really lean into it or twist too hard, I could definitely see it bending or worse. The saw blade itself could be higher quality, but it worked fine for the two branches I trimmed.If you’re just doing occasional light trimming, this is a solid buy. It’s far more compact than regular saws and the storage advantage alone makes it worth considering. For regular, heavy-duty use, I’d probably recommend something more robust but for light work, the convenience and price are hard to beat.
