It is designed to seal the chimney and keep bad weather, pests, and unconditioned air outside, keeping clean conditioned air inside.The Lock-Top II comes fully assembled. Its base mounts to the included sweep's ring which attaches to the flue tile with silicone sealant (included). A 30' stainless steel cable (included) drops down the flue and a hardware set mounts in the firebox. All Lock-Top II cap/dampers have an overall height of 11-3/8" and 3/4" mesh. Size: 13 W x 13 L x 11-3/8 H. Fits Inside Flue Sizes: 9 x 9 to 12-1/2 x 12-1/2 . Cross-Sectional Area: 100 Sq. Note: Don't use Lock-Top dampers with gas logs - failure to open could cause carbon monoxide to back up into the house. In case of a gas leak, gas could be trapped in the flue, resulting in an explosion. Features: Stainless steel and cast-aluminum construction. Lifetime Warranty. Silicone rubber seals tight.

I bought and installed two of these. Easy install, just note the instructions dont show a direction to place the handle mount, be sure of how you are going to fasten the chain before you decide which side of the mount to put up or down.I got a dried, hardened silicone tube when it arrived and sent a request via help on amazon and the seller sent me a new tube quickly. Great product great customer service and it keeps the air and critters out.

Does not fit product description "Fits Inside Flue Sizes: 6"x14" to 91/2"x171/2"." completely useless to me and I had to pay $50 to ship it back as there are no free returns. Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this product

I am so glad I didn’t have a “professional” install this. I saved almost $200 buying this on Amazon and installing it myself. It fit perfectly. It works beautifully. Everything you need is in the box!

It's junk and fell apart the first month after installing, it was stuck open all winter. Tried to close it and parts came falling down the chimney. Now I have to replace before winter, done with Amazon.
