If there's one thing you can buy that's a sure thing, it's a 10 1/4" Lodge cast iron skillet. I prefer this type with the two handles instead of the single handle that sticks out, but it's all personal preference. It's the perfect breakfast pan for me, nothing browns hash browns better or cooks as evenly. I just leave it on the stove and don't bother putting it away, as I use it almost every day. Once you learn to preheat it properly, you won't have issues with sticking. I have non-stick pans too, but heated correctly, cast iron is just as easy to use. They're also very easy to maintain too. There are plenty of videos, including some from Lodge, that show you how-to if you don't know. This pan is pre-seasoned, but will continue to get better and develop more character with use. Perfect size for one or two people. If you need to cook for more, you probably need a 12" skillet too. I have a 12" Lodge, but when cooking for just myself, the 10" size is perfect. If you don't have one, I highly recommend this "Made in the USA" pan. What's great is they really will last a lifetime with proper care. Buy it once, and you can pass it on to your kids.

I’ve owned and used Lodge pans for years and years - and have loved them all. Their quality has remained consistent over the years - which is why they’ve been renowned for their quality for so long.Made in the USA? - HUGE plus!!As with most all cast iron pans (enameled excluded), even the pre-seasoned ones, they require care. It’s not that hard, but it does, sometimes, take some extra effort and time to get used to what they need and recognizing when they need it. IMO, something that’s worth taking the time to learn. As to this one… I wanted a smaller pan for cooking for 1-2 people. This one is a perfect size, even if the 2nd person prefers larger servings - there’s enough room to accommodate for that.I've used this, mostly, for chops and steaks - started on the range top and finished in the oven. It’s preformed exceptionally, as expected.I also prefer this pan with the small dual side handles, rather than the single long handle. It makes storage and oven use a bit easier. With the weight, I wouldn’t opt for these smaller side handles in a pan much larger than this one though - they wouldn’t give you enough gripping room for the extra weight - especially in a one handed pour. This was a “perk-free” review.

I have Lodge's 10 inch skillet but unfortunately it won't fit in the standard Japanese ovens. This one though is perfect, you just got to rotate it a bit and it'll fit beautifully. The quality and craftsmanship is top-notch, as always.

I use it for everything. Had trouble seasoning it but it's slowly getting there the more I use it.

Wanted a larger lodge pan, and got this during the sale. This piece has a few raw edges and the inner pan has some "bumps" and rough surface. Use it for frying rice last night and it does not have a good feel, so I sand down the bumps, inside of pan and the raw edges with sanding stone. Feels better now, and probably have to season it a few times before I can use it. It can be achieved - will do it until I am satisfied and smooth on the inside! Will get the 9" in the near future.

Love this skillet and the convenient size. Boil water in it for a few minutes to get any stuck-on food off. Make sure not to leave it wet for long, very greasy food is okay to leave since you’re supposed to season it with oil after washing anyway. Highly recommend this skillet unless you have a delicate ceramic stovetop.
