Long Handle Sand Scoop for Metal Detecting (Front Handle)The poles and scoop are made of quality metals. They fit together nicely and are nice and strong. I don't care for the little handle to put on the front of the scoop. But I do like the length of the long poles. Makes digging easier on my back.Priced at $49.99 they are at the higher end of the scale. The current sale price of $39.99 gets them closer to the competition pricing.

This was easy to put together. My son got a metal detector for Christmas, and it did not come with a scoop. I got this for him to try. He was able to put it together himself with no help or instructions. It is a bit tall even for an eleven-year-old that stands 5'5. He seemed to think it was great, though, and it had worked out well sifting even through a bit denser dirt. I will say that he is a bit rough on things, and part of it did bend. Otherwise, it works well.

This is really nice that it breaks down. Fits in a backpack so going to the beach becomes a lot easier to do. That way we can get on a bike to go. The shovel is sharp enough for sand and cuts right through. Great build of aluminum so it is light and easy to use making it nimble with great functionality. Overall its great Value for money.

The collection basket is very solid. It's made of heavy gauge stainless steel with full welds (not spot welds) that are ground down. I was surprised at the quality, to be honest.However, the long handle is much more cheaply made. It's made of much thinner gauge metal that is bolted to the basket with two bolts. However, even with the bolts tightened all the way down, it still wiggles a fair amount. I have concerns that the handle will hold up under anything other than very occasional usage.Additionally, the "threads" are actually just rolled into the tubing (this is visible in the product photo). If the thin tubing ever gets even slightly dented or deformed, the poles will no longer properly mate.

This is a nice length scoop and was easy to put together. The only thing that I would recommend to change is the small “handle” near the scoop if you use that to step on and push into the sand as it’s made of simple plastic.

We have two plastic models with the advantage of not setting off the detector. But for the beach, this model rocks! Very strong and easy to clean. It can be broken down for easy storage.
