This game is a nice idea but after playing twice with my 2 boys (7 and 10) the game became boring VERY quickly and left me wondering if there is even a way for certain pawns to actually win.Pros: The board is built nicely and it’s very colorful.Cons: Most pawns get stuck and can’t progress any farther in the game unless you consistently roll 3 multiple times in a row (the die only has 1’s, 2’s and 3’s) because there are not enough of your own matching spaces to land on. My oldest son and I got mad and finally stopped playing after 5 mins of neither one of us progressing past the same 3 spaces even though my youngest son made it all the way around with no issues (the game is not consistent and is different for each pawn)There are a lot of games I may not be fond of but will still play them with my children because they enjoy them. This is DEFINITELY not one of them.

This is a really cute game and perfect for my 4 year old to understand but it only works for 3 players. The train gets stuck and no matter what's rolled, it'll never succeed in progressing. Great game. Needs a better board.

This is a great simple family game. Easy enough for younger kids to follow. Only a few pieces make set up and clean up nice.

I really expected more from this game, especially since it’s advertised as a strategic one that appeals to ages 4 through 99. The only one who seems to enjoy playing this game here is our four year old; the seven year old thinks it’s too babyish. No skill or strategy is involved—a roll of dice dictates moves, and depending on where you land allows a player to either move one square forward, two squares backward or three squares forward. That’s it—the player who reaches their start point is the winner. Everything about this game is unexciting. Even our four year old doesn’t ask to play Route Rivals often.

Route Rivals is a fantastic board game that has become a favorite for family game nights. The simplicity of the game, with 1 game board, 4 vehicle figurines, a die, and an instruction sheet, makes it easy for players of all ages to enjoy. The educational aspect of learning about modes of transport in water, road, cloud, and railroad zones adds value, making it both fun and informative. Like Pirate’s Paradise, Route Rivals fosters bonding within the family, promoting healthy competition, igniting strategic thinking, and enhancing social skills. The inclusive age range (4-99) ensures that everyone can participate, creating an inclusive and enjoyable game night experience. Route Rivals has become a staple in our family game collection, providing hours of entertainment and connection.

My kids are obsessed with this game and play it everyday! They say the rules are very easy and it is so much fun. Even my 3 year old plays with help from her siblings. I like that it is brightly colored and the quality is really good.

I liked that this game has very few pieces and the board is not huge. I played with a 5 year old and it is easy to understand and grasp the rules. However, this game is listed a strategic and there is no. strategy involved at all. You roll a die that has the numbers 1, 2 or 3 on it and move those spaces. If your piece (a boat, helicopter, train, or car) lands on a symbol that doesn't work for that type of transportation (ex car in water) you move back 2 spaces, and if does work you move forward 1 space. The problem is few spaces work so you can spend A LOT of time at the beginning of the board and it gets boring. We modified it to roll the die 2x and add the numbers to move the game along and include math skills. I would say this game is for the young set. While an 8 year can play, I doubt they would want to.
