It would have been nice if the seller would have listed the operational mode of these raid controllers as IT. In this mode it acts only as an HBA SAS adapter. I needed mine to be in IR mode, so that required me to flash the card firmware, which isn't the easiest thing in the world to do and a mistake can brick the cards. If you're looking for an IT mode 4 port SAS HBA, this works fine. One other caveat is the older firmware for these boards isn't compatible with a UEFI boot system. You'll have to put your system in Legacy mode to be able to get to the controller cards firmware to do any operations. I'm going to attempt to flash a UEFI firmware on the card to see if that update will allow it to work with a modern system. If your system will only do UEFI do not use this card.But to be clear there is nothing functionally wrong with the card and everything was as ordered. The only complaint here is the lack of specificity on the card mode not being listed in the description.
