I had high hopes for this pillow, but so far it's fallen short of my expectations. I envisioned using it for lower back support while lying down to do exercises. From the moment I took it out of the packaging, it smelled really bad but I figured it might need a day or 2 to off-gas. Well it's been a week. I've let it sit, took it out of the case to breath better (the foam itself is wrapped in a thin cloth covering), put it outside, put it in the dryer on the no-air setting and let it sit some more. The smell faded a lot, but it hasn't completely gone away. It also isn't that firm or supportive - it's 2.5 inches high but it squishes right down when you lean on it, giving very little support. I'm really disappointed. I did give it 3 stars instead of 2 because based on other reviews, I might have just gotten a dud. On the positive side, the cover is soft and plush, will definitely stay in place and washed well (I hung it to dry).

Its definitely smaller than i expected & thinner. Once opening the package it smelled so much of the memory foam. Its common this happens but it smelled so strong for 2-3 days. Id say a week almost to completely subside. It helps me as a side sleeper to place it under my ribs so i dont crush my bad shoulder & i sleep more leveled & not sunk in or if im watching something sideways & prop it right under my face cheek. Its definitely not a huge bump. Its on the thinner side. Love that i can remove the cover to wash. Wish it felt just a tad more thicker. Its also not really that firm but i think i prefer not too firm. I dont think this is high enough for stomach sleeping to relieve lower back pressure/pain. This is safer for under your armpit/ribs. Its definitely improved my sleep & shoulder. Not a miracle but better than before.

I deal with lower back discomfort daily. The lumbar pillow in addition to a firm memory foam pillow has made me feel less achy in the AM. I’m a side and back sleeper, so I’ll either have the pillow on my side or on my lower back. The pillow is thin enough that it won’t be uncomfortable.Upon opening, there is a noticeable smell that can linger a few days, even after washing the removable pillow cover. One thing I found a PITA is the zipper on the pillow cover. I found myself putting enough pressure on the pillow to make sure it’s flat enough to zip.I have used this pillow for a couple of weeks now, and it has retained its shape. I haven’t used it when sitting down, so I’m unable to comment on that. I purchased the pillow to be used while in beds and so far it has provided some relief upon awakening.

This is one of those pillows that's "just right." I like that it's fairly thin and long - it doesn't prop my head up too much and I can move around without having to adjust where it's at. It's on the firmer side for sure, but I still find it quite yielding - I can lean against it for hours without getting uncomfortable or needing to re-fluff it. I've been using it as a headrest in bed and liked it so much that I bought another one to use as a knee rest. The cover quickly unzips and can be washed, which is great. I'm very, very happy with this pillow and I'm so glad I ordered it.

If you are looking for a lumbar support when sitting for lengthyperiods while working at your computer, this is not supportive enough. To support yourneck, it is too big and bulky. A neck roll would be better. Placing it at the small of yourback while riding in a car, it will probably help with some support and cushioning. Forsleeping… I sleep on my back with a folded pillow under the curve of my knees. Thisaligns my spine perfectly, but I wanted to try a lumbar support to see if there is a difference. So, placing the support under my back in addition to raising my knees does not workand places the spine out of alignment. Using the support under my knees instead ofmy folded pillow, it is not high enough. Folding it over for height makes it too smallto accommodate the width of both of my legs. The ad claimed, it was also for stomachsleepers. That does not make any sense. I tried shoving it under my belly and lying onit that way, which feels like pressure under your stomach and does not do anything toalign the spine. If you are a side sleeper, it might work. I tried it on my side, and itseems to feel ok. All that was left for me, was to place it at the small of myback, scrapping my knee support and sleeping on it for a night. The result: During the night, the support had slid up my spine, so it was resting justabove the small of my back. The area that should have been supported was lefthollow and the pillow, now further up, intensified the unsupported arch. I don’tusually have back pain, but I woke up with a dull ache in my arch.Lesson learned. Don’t mess with a good thing. I am back to putting my supportunder my knees. This support pillow will find room in my car for added comfort in thelumbar region, but not anywhere else.

My low back is a mess. Too many years of use and abuse. As a result if I sit on a couch without some sort of pillow for extra support I pay for the choice in a very painful way. However I haven't been happy with the pillows I've been using. There's always been something about the sizing that just wasn't quite right.Queue this pillow. It's soft, no spots that poke into you in an uncomfortable way. It's supportive. The sizing with the flared ends turns out to make a huge difference for lateral stability. It is thinner than most similar pillows, which turns out to be good for when you just need a little bit of support. The cover is a nice soft material. There was a slight smell to it when I took it out of the packaging, but that faded fully within 24hrs.
