Working outside made it easy to deal with the cold because of the socks, they kept his feet warm throughout the day.

The socks are good but the heat is barely noticeable. I sent back one pair thinking it was maybe just bad batteries. Second pair were the same.

These didn't get hot at all, I felt a slight warmth in the right sock, but the left was little to no warmth at all, and didn't stay warm long. Nice fit though.

First of all, I should mention that from a fit standpoint, they fit me well as a 6'4, 230 lb. man who wears a size 12 shoe. When my girlfriend tried them on, they were a bit slouchy on her. I would be able to comfortably wear these hiking, whereas she mentioned that they would likely give her blisters while hiking as a 5'6, 125 lb. woman who wears size 8.5. Personally, I would not consider these unisex and would say that they are more men's socks. The other thing I should mention at the top of the review is that I thought they would fit higher on the calf. The way the images look in the photos, I expected them to be mid-calf length. These go below the calf, as my photos indicate. The main issue with this is that you will not be able to wear ski boots, many versions of wellies or even some higher hiking boots with these because of the area the battery pack sits at. This is not a small, low-profile battery pack either ... it juts out quite a bit ... enough to bother a high boot wearer.I tried these on and went for a walk around the neighborhood wearing sneakers. The socks are thick and made my sneakers fit pretty tight ... more so than even some of my wool socks which have a bit more give. These are very tightly knit and don't offer a lot of flexibility. The socks themselves are warm ... I honestly don't even know if you need the heating element as the socks themselves do a good job of keeping the heat in due to the tight fit and the close weave of the fabric. They also do not breathe exceptionally well in my opinion.Having said that, I feel very little difference in temperature when the socks' battery units are turned on vs. without the battery heating units connected. There are a few thin wires running across the toe and arch section of the foot. Initially, I had hoped these would wrap one's feet in a warm blanket of heat, almost as if you had laid your socks on a heater and then put them on. Nope. I barely felt any heat. When I put my (now) tighter fitting running shoes on, the heat in the toe area was more noticeable but it still wasn't a warm, enveloping heat. It was more of a one-spot direct heat feel. I guess having the compression of the shoes pressing the socks against my foot was what was needed because I barely felt anything wearing the socks alone. The battery pack comes with a shorter than normal charge ... once you charge for the whole time, it's really not a terrible process. You connect the battery pack with the included charger cable. Some may like that this includes an actual plug which goes into a wall, which many such rechargeable products do not. Some may not because it eliminates the ability to charge using a powerbank, laptop, car USB port, etc. on the go. The socks do take up to 4 hours to charge as you must do one at a time. There are 3 intensity levels for the heat button ... of course the listed battery life is usually for the lowest setting. Given my experience, even on high, there is not that much of a difference when wearing the sock without the heat turned on.The biggest weakness of these socks is that the battery pack is so bulky and awkward. The wire never stays tucked into the socks' pocket and the bulging battery pocket on the side keeps these from being worn with high boots or tight leggings. For a walk around the neighborhood on a cold day, fine. For a hiking trip or ski trip, I'd hesitate. The instruction manual also states that these should not be operated with the battery in wet weather, which includes rainy days. I would assume that means in heavy snow coating as well?Overall, if you are looking for an interesting tech gadget that might keep your tootsies warm on a chilly fall or winter day, you may want to consider trying a pair for yourself. Given the mediocre heat performance and odd fit with the battery pack, I probably would not order these again, if given the opportunity. They do come with a nice box. I will give them 3 stars because they seem very well made and that they will last a long time. They come in a nice box and the battery units seem well made and sturdy. I honestly will use these as hiking socks without the heat battery units more than I will with them ... but they seem like a nice, well made pair of socks that maybe run a little hot on their own. Washing them will be interesting but according to the instructions, it's a pretty easy process.

Bought the socks for my husband for the cold months coming. Tried them out and they kept his feet pretty warm. His body naturally is cold and they warmed his feet up in the warmer weather.
