This is not a solid choice for cloning or reading multiple drives. With a multitude of small 2 to 4 tb drives far too many drives required repair after insertion. The fan has such little impact on temps not really a feature. There is also a timeout factor with this dock trying to dump whole drives turned out to be impossible in one session. Ultimately returned after this frustration. Used with an asrock x670e MB with USB2, USB3, and new USB4 port choices with no change in reliability.

The unit arrived in what appears to be good physical condition but fails to operate properly with more than one drive plugged in. That once position work quite well but if course that is not the reason for a 5 position enclosure. Similar units that I have used from other manufactures operate correctly and this is most likely a one off internal soldering or similar assembly error.

This is not friendly to certain linux systems. It will give permission errors and blank drives.Turn it on and drives grind for 5 to 15 minutes. Windows recommended. Because I panicked.2.8.24 I guess the ac is a 12v 3a adapter so I will beef it up to a 5a adapter.7.6.24 I got one [12Volt 5A Power Supply adapter AC 110-240V to DC Converter 12 Volt 5 Amp 3.5A 3A Power Adapter Supply AC/DC Transformer with 5.5mm x 2.5mm Compatible with 5.5x2.1mm DC Output Wall Adapter https://a.co/d/00xOknqg]It spins up all 5 hard drives and it takes about 2 min for all drives to spin up but it works better with the 5v adapter

Do you value privacy? Are you smart enough to remove your hard drives before parting with a laptop or desktop like me? Well my collection had grown upgrades made out with the old etc, although somewhat secure living in my house collecting dust the stack got bigger. And minus finding a company to securely shred my hd collection in a physical manner or using a saw myself, well there's not many cheap or easy options. This changed everything... Plug 5 hds in run boot an Nuke to your security standards and find a place to recycle your hd collection in a safe way where you're assured that no tax info, shady business deals with foreign companies, or sudeoname emails or taking payments for bogus things will ever be found. Whatever your security concerns are this seriously changed the way and speed that I could secure my info from the wild. It's not just a security device, it's great for broken laptops or crashed computers to help you retrieve precious memories, pictures video etc. It can also act as just a hd bay to store as much as you like that you could fit on 5hds upto 18tb per slot which is crazy, but it can do it if you so choose. It's powered, it's stable will run continuously for quite some time if you're wondering, I'm not sure about the clone feature though you can use software for that too. It's a great tool for an arsenal for anyone from repairs and hobby, to having a rather cheap way to keep your digital life and or transfer such digital life to a new faster device over USB. Granted I used a slower older machine to wipe things so I got 20mbs which is respectable for usb2.0Wiped about 6tb collectively in about 48 hrs on a very slow machine, so 3.0 and a new machine probably a day at the most.
