I purchased this tool to add to my growing hobby of leathercraft. I needed a way to thin leather straps to accommodate adding hardware. This splitter worked perfectly. It came with mounting screws, extra blades, and extra screws for the adjustments. The unit is easily adjusted to cut a specific thickness with the inclosed hex wrenches. I would recommend this item to leathercrafters who are looking for a good tool at a reasonable price.

I really wanted to like this but after dozens of attempts all I have is wasted leather. I've tried modifying it, using different blades, etc. I've put nearly as much into trying to make it work as I did in the initial purchase. I just end up with a strip of leather with wavy thickness. At the start it could be 2mm thick, half way it might be 0.5mm thick and by the end it's 1.5mm.On the plus side, it does come with a bunch of accessories.

Heavy duty. Seems well built. Ready to use right out of the box. Simple design, but genius. Disposable razor knife blades are a great choice. Used it immediately and it was Great! Adjustments are easy and it takes up less than 6" of bench space.I'm very impressed.

Once you get the hang of this it works great. Only down side is the width at only 3 “ and having to split the whole width. It will not allow any tapered splitting unless you really know what you’re doing. It’s not advertised to taper - but I had hopes it would do it. For the price - well worth it

This is a great solution for hobbyists. Small footprint, but well made and comes with a razor sharp blade. Within a few minutes of receiving the package I was skiving pieces down to very thin weights - a must for wallets, watch straps, etc. Allows me to use thicker weight leather stock for a much wider variety of applications.

Tool is constructed very well, made out of heavy stuff. Easy to set up and get started. Razor blades are very sharp. Worth every penny you pay. Wish I had found it earlier.

I fully expected to return this. I didn't see how it could be so much cheaper than other options available. Also there are half a dozen vendors selling this exact item so clearly it's some kind of unbranded, mass-produced thing. Nonetheless, to my surprise, it does indeed work. I'm sure it's not appropriate for daily, professional use, but if you're a hobbyist who wants to make a belt or something it will do the job it's designed for - thinning narrow strips of leather.Unsure on longevity/durability but it works as intended - more than a lot of products these days can claim.
