Instructions are poorly written and must be read carefully. But if you'll do everything as instructed, it works great. Well worth the money.

The installation is easy and simple. Some comment that the instruction is not clear. The diagram is indeed a template. Verify the dimensions first and then stick it to the door and frame and drill the holes. The work is done. No complication. The open and close is smooth and the door can be hold at any position after 90 degrees. It is not for fire rated door as such feature violates the fire code.

I was tired of the standard storm door closers, that either broke and also only allow the door to open about 80 degrees. I decided to try this this closer, it has a hold open feature, can open beyond 90 degrees, and is at the top of door. My storm door is an Anderson with double glazed insulated glass, the door is thicker, about 1-1/2 inches.Vertical Mounting Template - I changed the mounting 1 cm closer to the hinge (84mm instead of the document 94mm), so that the closer mounting screw would not impact storm door's corner bracing screw , next time I might go 1 cm further from the hinge. Closer to the hinge, makes it a littler stiffer to open.As I mounted it is good for me, a strong wind is less likely to blow open the door out of my grip.I also had to notch the top on the storm door frame to allow the Closer's "Square Head"

Many are showing review photos of an incorrectly installed product. However, the lukewarm reviews aren't wrong. Let me explain.The product is causing tearing of the surrounding door trim every time the door is opened despite being installed to specification (it functions great and V arm matches pictures for the standard type of installation). The self-drilling screws are probably not adequate for all types of door trim and can cause damage.As many others have pointed out, the installation instructions are horrible. The videos on Amazon are bad but the printed instructions are much worse. Besides being terrible, it also fails to mention that the V-arm is vertically adjustable. Also fails to mention that the arm comes attached to the housing with a painted screw, not separate as shown everywhere.The plastic dust cover does not cover the bottom screw very well either.While this is the best looking door closer I could find (at an affordable price) I'm not sure I would buy this again, mostly because it seems to be tearing my surrounding door trim when the door is opened. The screws may not be good.If your door trim is flat, small, and nor curved in any way, and you are fine with practically no instructions, and you don't mind that things don't fit perfectly, then this is the door closer for you. Functionally it'll work, but you need to know what you are doing.I will likely unmount the product and return or throw it away, although it's already caused damage.

Just installed. Pleased with it overall.Pros: Dampens noise of my slamming door, blends in, affordable; can adjust swinging speed and latching closure speed separately for custom ratio, only took 1 hr. Installation videos on this listing helped me understand. You don’t have to be too precise with measuring where to mount everything. Hardware screws were good quality and no fuss.Cons: It took longer to install because of lack of well written instructions per each installation scenario. It wasn’t very clear to understand what goes where and why if your hinge is left/right and if you need it on the push or pull side. It came with only a double sided diagram with vague steps for 2 methods. It took me the most time deciphering the instructions based on what I need. I’m a craftsman though so it may stump others for longer. Lost a star for effort I had to make coming up with my own plan to install based on their limited diagram.Notes: Be careful you give enough clearance to the arms or you’ll “skin” your door frame while using. Doesn’t matter which is hinge side but make sure the method you choose (top jamb, side, or parallel) that it fits your door needs and you’re flipping the diagram to match hinge direction because component direction does matter. Also, verify that your door jam has enough flat area for the component that you’ll mount to it to sit; I got lucky that my jamb slopes with several ridges but has just enough flat trim in the middle to put the housing body.

All seemed well, functions as intended, little finicky on adjustments and nothing like a commercial closer but what's to be expected at the price range. Well, more than 9 months of service is expected.... didn't make it. Leaking oil on the floor and just slams the door shut now.UPDATE 2024/12/27:Within days of posting my review, the seller on their own initiative reached out and offered a refund and apology. Amazing customer service and standing behind the product. Customer service is extremely important to me and they went above by reaching out to me. For that, I'm increasing my rating from three to five stars.

I believe that I installed the product correctly; however, the door would not stay open. Also, the force to open the door was too great - it actually loosened one of the hinges. I also agree with many others that the directions are poor to say the least. I would have called technical support to try and get the product to work on the off chance that I installed it incorrectly; however, they do not have any support in the United States. It seems that you have to call someone in China at the factory. I decided to return it instead.

I had a bit of trouble installing the product, but it wasn't necessarily the product's fault. The door frame was a bit complicated, which made the installation challenging. Fortunately, the product can be installed in two different ways, so I was able to get it right on the second try. It has worked really well for the past six months. Size 2 works great for typical single-panel doors. It has enough force to close the door and it's not too difficult to open.

Quality exceeds my expectation for the price. Working in first shot, no need to make a lot of adjustment. The instruction is difficult to understand for 1st time installer as the writer seems limited in English.

Instructions were a mess, but it does what it's supposed to do. After several months, we haven't had any issues and it gets used regularly. There is no "hold open" option, despite what the title says.

The instructions were very tough to navigate. I had to photocopy and flip the "parallel installation" diagram because it only showed installation for one direction.I also had to ignore the "45-degree" note in the instructions for parallel installation, or the closer didn't work.
