This is my second batch of Fortress locks. The first batch had to be cut through when I lost all my keys one day at work! But the main reason I love Fortress is that they are always so easy to lock and unlock, no matter how old they are! Master is my number two choice. I refuse to buy Brinks anymore (only in emergency situations.)

I’m satisfied for what I paid for. I got these on sale, and am happy to know they’re made by Master Lock. I am a locksmith, and a majority of the time we use Padlocks/Hasps/Discus Locks made by Master Lock, and have yet to have any complaints myself, or from customers. The set of 4 come with 2 keys, which is enough.

I used three locks for sheds, with one spare. The keys are awkward to insert but they appear robust and likely to last, but I've only had them two weeks. They took quite a while to arrive from Turkey!

I'll start by offering a public disclosure: I know little about locks. The lock I bought and now presume to review is in use on an outdoor storage locker in Tucson, AZ – some 2500 miles from my current location. I'll return to remove the lock and retrieve the contents of the storage locker eight months from now. During these eight months the lock will be exposed to the Tucson summer, when temperatures sometimes soar to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The lock will be subjected to savage monsoon rains and intense sunshine; and for all I know, it may be assaulted by rattlesnakes and scorpions. When I snapped the lock into place on the latch of the storage locker door, I accepted the manufacturer's claims of strength and quality. Indeed, the lock looks strong and well made. When I return to remove the lock in eight months, I doubt that it will have been subjected to deliberate physical attack, as with a hammer or other tools; the storage facility is gated and presumably secure. But the savage weather it will have endured is another story. I'll learn a lot about this lock's ability to resist extreme conditions of heat and torrential rain. These observations won't make me a lock expert, but I'll be glad to pass them along in a supplement this review in December, 2014.
