They are used to create right hand threads in a range of materials. It is available in two different ANSI standards: UNC (Unified Coarse) and UNF (Unified Fine). The premium high speed steel M2 material provides long tool life. The straight flutes are suitable for threading through holes and blind or bottoming holes.
This uncoated taps can be used on a broad range of materials. The round shank with square driver makes the taps suitable for hand or power-driven applications.

I bought this to chase the treads on a gm axel ball joint hole and it did what i needed but has some chipping when tapping the second hole , would not recommend for any kind of industrial use .

I used this tap to thread five holes in one inch thick cast aluminum. I had to use a thirty inch breaker bar to get this tap through the aluminum. I completed the job and ended up with a finished product that I could live with but I had to break a sweat to get there. it should have been a whole lot sharper to make the job a whole lot easier. would not recommend.

Honestly not sure how great a tap it is. But just fine for my needs. I’m a CNC machinist by trade. And an msc HSS tap this size would be dumb expensive by comparison. I used it to chase the threads on my squarebody chevy’s upper ball joint axle yoke. It worked as I’d hoped and my new sleeves threaded in buttery smooth. Would buy again. But should have to.
