The nebulizer works fine, and accepts regular AA batteries or can be plugged in. This may be a downside for folks that need to use it often, but for conditions requiring less frequent treatment, you don't want built-in batteries draining over time or aging and not replaceable. Now I can disconnect the batteries or take them out when it's not needed for a while.

Can NOT nebulize essential oils. Cracked to pieces first use. I tried to nebulize colloidal silver with a few drops of essential oil. Started dripping during first use and found it cracked into several pieces, The plastic that holds the medicine is cheap. The Veridian ultrasonic nebulizer, I had, worked using colloidal silver and essential oils but I gave it to my father. Just ordered another one. Cheaply made, and did not have as good mist output.

I loved this for travel for a month. It was so convenient to travel with. But, it stopped working and it leaked out the medicine. So disappointed. It was pricey but I was willing to pay for the convenience but in the end it’s not worth it.Update: I contacted the manufacturer they told me they would refund since the warranty is one year. The next day, they told me it isn’t their company but it has their name on it. They are terrible, do not waste your money!

This is a teeny tiny handheld nebulizer that produces a very good stream of mist. Please note that you can either use it with AA batteries, or plugged in with a USB cord, but it does not have a rechargeable battery, and if you use the USB port, then it has to be plugged in.The downside of this nebulizer over a regular one with a hose is that you do have to keep your head somewhat straight so that you are not tipping the fluid chamber. With a nebulizer with a hose, you can pretty much lay in all sorts of positions. With this small one, you have to hold it up to your face while you use it. You can either use a mouthpiece to inhale or attach your mask directly. It comes with both an adult and child mask. All that being said, this is great is so many ways. First, it's tiny. It so easy to tuck in your bag or travel with it. It's small and easy to hold. It's also phenomenally quiet. Our regular machine can be heard from the next room; with this one you hear almost nothing, even if you're sitting right next to it. It's so much easier to pull this one out and use it than to go through all the set up of our bigger machine. The only improvement I would make on this, is that at this price point, it would have been nice if it came with a little storage box or drawstring bag that would hold the pieces you need. If you want to carry this in your purse or pack it in a suitcase, you'll have to find something to put it in. It's so easily portable that you're going to want to carry it with you on trips.
