Perfect fit. It did come with extra chrome trim on the bottom. I removed the chrome from the air condition controls and it fit right in. Cheney is very responsive to any troubleshooting. The head unit works great. On my Subaru I had to go to the settings and select a different type to get my steering wheel controls to work correctly. (I did purchase the canbus harness separately. I would highly recommend and wish I bought it a while ago instead of waiting for the Subaru stick radio to delaminate.

The radio looks factory, and sounds better than the original head unit. The factory radio developed the dreaded Subaru ghost clicks, and I needed a better option than paying Subaru $1600. The install was straightforward. I didn’t have any issues with the included instructions, but there are some good tips in other reviews here. The seller contacted me before the radio even arrived with a pdf and a link to a YouTube video. Steering wheel controls, backup camera and CarPlay all worked out of the box. Screen is big and responsive. It is more intuitive than the old factory radio. I upgraded the factory speakers a while back and they perform even better now.

Purchased new 8/2024 and after initial problems installing got it working and was fairly happy. However the unit Failed within 4 months. At first the failure was CarPlay just stopping working, then the backup camera would just be black 20-30% of the time I popped into reverse. Now the unit freezes up giving directions, the GPS location is lost while giving directions, and the Backup Camera rarely works. I reached out to seller to see how they will fix this issue, will update if I hear back! All photos attached were taken on the same day to so range of issues this has on a DAILY basis...

I am giving this head unit a five-star review. However I wish it could be 4.9.In retrospect this unit was a very easy install in my 2017 Subaru Outback.Once installed the unit is very snappy, it looks great, it functions very very well. But there are a few caveats...There seems to be an issue with what I suspect my exact phone model Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra where it will not consistently connect via Bluetooth. This is how I wanted to use my system, I just hop in my car, put my phone on the charger, and we're good to go.After many hours of troubleshooting, it was determined that this will function as I wanted, But I had to connect via wired USB.I am the kind of guy who likes to cut out steps and wants things to be seamless. While it is still an inconvenience, through it all it's a very minor one that I can learn to live with.Additionally, Cheney was relentless and I say this in a good way. He was very helpful, attentive, and really helps me a lot.Overall I love this system, It's just that one quirk that I wish we could have made work that would have made this 5.0.So if you read my review and you have an A23 Ultra... Take note and avoid the headaches, plug it in with a USB cord lol!

I was afraid of losing functionnalities, but the product works as advertised. The only (very small for me) drawback is the fact that you can't reuse the existing USB port without buying an adapter. On my non premium Outback 2015 I only had to plug a few cables, and everything worked perfectly. Android Auto sometimes has troubles communicating wirelessly with my Android cell phone, but it is quite a common issue. The screen is sharp and the system is responsive enough. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase.

I got this for my Subaru because of the delaminating screen issues.I have been able to get everything working. Read other reviews here. They talk about the duel antenna plug you need to buy. And the USB plug to get the factory plugs connected. Also, the screen material sucks really bad. Just touching it scratches. Can’t stress it enough that you must must must get a glass screen protector at the same time. I didn’t. And regretted it so much I returned the unit and started over. Second time around I installed the screen protector before installing it in the car. It was easier that way too. The glass screen protector feels much better. Your finger glides on the screen and no scratches.Order them at the same time. Then their are two tricky things you need to do, but no cutting or splicing. For the back up camera. One of the new harnesses that come with the radio has a male yellow RCA plug. Another harness that plugs into a different spot also has a yellow RCA plug but it’s female. Plug those RCA plugs together for the camera. The Subaru’s antenna has a power booster. The included harnesses are not pinned out correctly to supply the power needed. Look for the other reviewers post with his picture. You will not have any signal strength for radio if you don’t do this. If you don’t buy that new harness I mentioned above you will only have FM no AM. When you find you don’t have any radio signal. You’ll need to do this yellow wire swap I write about below. You only need to remove the yellow wire and pin from a plug on the supplied harness that’s not used in your application on your radio. It’s part of the harness that is being used, but it’s a plug off of it that’s doesn’t get anything plugged into it. You’ll find it. Find the plug that you are using that matches the other reviewers picture. Insert that pin in the correct spot in the plug being used. It will match up to a yellow wire from the car side. The trick is knowing how to remove the pin without damaging it. Then just insert it into that correct spot on the plug that is being used. It’s the 12 volts your antenna booster needs. If you do it like that you don’t need to cut any wires. After that you need to explore all the settings. you have a lot of options to make the display what you want when you turn the key. I have an iPhone and use Waze. It can have it set to wirelessly work and open carplay automatically. The radio is basically an android tablet. I don’t have one and am not familiar with a tablet at all, so it was a bit of a learning curve for me setting the radio display and options up the way I like. The sound system has multiple equalizers and adjustments. I was able to make it sound really good. The display is sharp and crisp. The back up lines in the camera do not respond to the steering wheel, but the lines themselves has adjustments. The picture is just as nice as the factory radio. It took me some time playing with everything. I’ll probably tweek things some more. Fun playing. Also, you get google and can Surf internet while driving. You can watch Netflix movies while driving. You can down load other apps and use. So far I found I have to have my iPhone physically connect thru a USB port to get the internet. But carplay is wireless. If I was to do it over, I would buy the next model up with a bit better memory. But so far I haven’t tried to upload any music so not sure if I need more memory. I stream everything off Amazon music. Another app you just download into the radio.
