Haven't used this item yet, but will whenever I get to a good stream to sift for gold. That was the reason that I bought this sifter. Looked easy enough to handle a small shovel load of gravel from a stream to sort out the larger rocks to get to the aggregate for panning.

The metal dirt sifter was advertised as new but arrived with dried dirt splashes on the sides and rusted areas on the screen. Will keep, as I need this tool and it's not available in my small town.

The metal sifter is 7x9", well built and sturdy. It works well sifting ashes and soil. It meets my requirements.

so, i was very dumb and didn't realize the size of this sifter, i thought it was way bigger than this very small thing, it seems to be built well, i would not order again but only because it was too small for my needs, hope it fits yours
