Worked great at first, but not made to be moveable. Broke just after a couple months!

I recently decided to upgrade my home recording setup and went for this adjustable desktop microphone boom arm, enticed by its promise of 360-degree rotation and heavy-duty construction. The idea of having a more flexible and stable setup for my microphone was appealing, especially since my previous setup was a bit of a makeshift solution. The 360-degree rotation feature has been a game-changer for me. It offers the flexibility I need to position my microphone exactly how I want it, whether I'm recording a podcast, doing voiceovers, or just chatting with friends online. The microphone clip that came with it fit my microphone perfectly, and I appreciated the inclusion of a color clip, adding a nice touch to my setup. However, while the arm's stability is generally impressive, I did notice a bit of a wobble when extended to its fullest reach, especially if I accidentally bump my desk. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be mindful of during delicate recording sessions where every little sound matters.

The usb mic I have been using was just on a stand on my desk. In addition to picking up any vibrations from the desk, it didn't have any adjustability. I'd have to lean over to speak into it. I decided I needed a boom arm. I've never owned one before so I can't compare to this one to any others. If I'm being honest, what made me want to get this one is that it comes in purple. My mic is purple so I had to get it. The shade is darker than what is shown in listing photos. It almost seems like the color is powder coated on. It's very nice. All the basic functions works as expected. The adjustments are smooth and it stays in the position I put it. The clamp holds on to my desk very securely. Where the arm attaches to the clamp didn't seem so secure at first. It was wobbly and I could easily pull it out. I had to really push the arm down into the clamp and then tighten the knob. I can rotate the arm freely now with no wobbles. When I first tried to screw my shock mount onto the post on the boom arm, it wouldn't fit. There is a little orange threaded adapter in the bag the arm comes in. Be careful not to miss it and accidently throw it away. I almost did.I really happy with this. It does everything I want it to and I really like the color.

Ugh. What a wasteful way to spend my time today. It took me maybe 60 seconds to inspect this product and come to the conclusion this would not support my compressor and shock mount without requiring a full mod on the absolute travesty of lazy that someone began to work on and then stopped half way. I reverse engineered the micstand project to the best of my ability. It's pretty clear this mic stand began it's journey as a Desklamp. And a pretty cheap version of the classic desklamp that has its a own iconic imagery associated with it. As a desk lamp those long springs on the side that allowed the lamp to adjust to varying positions were finely tuned to perfection so it would keep a rigorous hold of positions over its time. I'd bet some money this began and there was the initial intention that any modded desklamps to mic stands they created would be used as “model only” while they made a proper mould. Its not a product that anyone should feel comfortable with a review being made, that's for sure.I've attached pictures, to note issues: the “mole” is the base part that attaches to desk. As you can see the thumb screw is flush against the base and while it's hitting the rubber that's as far as the screw goes. Even with without the rubber ring, it wouldn't hit the pole tho. And finally, in a hypothetical world where it can hit the pole, that thumb screw would be stability garnish at best. All it would be providing would be the temporary illusion of safety and stability. There would be a jostle or bumb and the 2k mic just crashed into the monitors which destroyed the mac (that you forgot to back up after that last bit). #BackthatbackuplifeThere is also the obvious issue of this being a product literally engineered to the very finest molecular dimensions to carry the weight of one lightbulb and naw, it's cool, you wanna see if it'll load the drums in the van too?Now putting anything of value on a pole that is carrying a load much heavier than the lightbulb it was designed for and the fact that the pole is not secured to the base was why I tapped out within minutes of testing. Initially, I was horrified to find the thumb screw to be the only mechanism that would provide stability to the base. Double horror to discover they abandoned the predrilled holes After getting through only the base. Very, why bother! I concur. There is a thin rubber mat/washer style ring that goes around the inside of the base. When I screw in the thumb ring screw in the base predrill hole it manages to lift the rubber up but it never actually touches the pole. it's obviously not something anyone would use but it's pretty irresponsible to include even half drilled. Again,We're seeing an illusion… The pole is slightly longer the base at the bottom so gravity and weight keeps it from leaping out with no motion but you might get startled and jump!If the desklamp/mic stand had come fully preholed I could have been convinced this is a team of dreamers that need professional help but they are trying. I was sent the opposite of a product they care about tho, so why should I? Trick question! Because the work, no matter what it is, is important. One star.

This came right when I had been considering a boom arm to improve my home recording. On the audio level, some of my equipment is studio-level, but I lacked purely mechanic "stuff," and a boom arm is not just convenient but also eliminates having to focus on holding a microphone just right. The quality of construction is superb, down to the perfect paint finish. All the knobs, screws, and springs are rock solid. So far I haven't gotten the knob at the end of the arm to hold my heavy microphone at an angle, so I'm relying on gravity to keep it nearly parallel with the top arm, but that's fine for my purposes. There's still plenty of room for the bottom of the microphone and the XLR cable coming out.The bottom grip can hold tightly on the other side of my small side table, with soft padding that means not scratching the finish. There's a little slippage but only because of the table's polished finish, and this would be eliminated with a small piece of flat rubber or silicone.
