For the last could years, I have been using use a Yeti Blue microphone with a cheap shock mount and "desk lamp" style mic stand for the past couple years. This is a huge upgrade.I was initially discouraged at the low height of the fixed height swing arm. It is low enough that it won't clear a cup of coffee cup and long enough that it will sweep the majority of my desk. It is so long that it was pretty awkward when I installed it where my previous stand was; the zig zag sweep took up my about half my desk which was cumbersome and looked terrible. I was about ready to go back to my old one but tried moving it before I canned it. I mounted it behind the monitor so the elbow was immediately next to the monitor and the low sweep path is almost entirely behind the monitor. It effectively zig zags around the monitor and positions the microphone ideally. I LOVE THE NEW SETUP!!! It is substantially more convenient to move the mic in/out of the way, way more solid, looks 1000 times better, is less conspicuous, less cluttered, doesn't block my view of my monitor, doesn't obstruct my hands/typing, holds the mic out of camera view, planes the mic in a note repeatable location, and organizers the cables better... Better in every single way.

Pleasantly surprised with it, I've got an older spring one I'd been using and wanted to compare the two. No instructions but super fast to setup and it's self explanatory, appreciate that it came with two different threaded ends for different mics. Strong enough to hold my mic with no issues, has channels along the length of it to tuck cables away.It is very sturdy when the dials are turned, less mobility on it than my spring one which is inconvenient if you move around a lot with your mic but it's an improvement if you're fairly stationary and get it set just right. Materials are good quality and the packaging itself was high end. Planning to continue using it, it's won me over.

This desk mounted microphone boom arm is a HUGE improvement from my spring one.Just having a silent mic boom is amazing! It uses a Gear Locking system instead of the springs. Easy to adjust, swivels nicely. Built in cable management is another great feature.Somethings you don't cheap out on...if you are a serious vlogger or steamer you want a solid QUIET mic boom with no cable mess. This is it!Highly Recommend!5/5

This boom arm is great. It's got a low profile, meaning I can keep it out of the way when I'm not using it, so I don't have to constantly detach and re-attach it to my desk as needed. It's got a nice long reach, and the swivel action is great. I can now use the same setup for recording at my desk, and even swing it over to my piano if I want to, without having to change anything. The clamp which holds it to the desk is much sturdier than boom arms I've had in the past. I love the fact that you can lock the height, rather than moving it around on springs. It feels like a professional addition to my home studio.

I replaced my previous mic boom arm with this Audio Accessory low profile arm. My old one was originally purchased at more than twice the price of item under review, leaving me a bit dumbfounded in comparison. This looks and feels high quality, and is easy to move and position a microphone. The base attachment that clamps to desk or table surface is quite firm with solid weight to it. Arm extensions feel well made and not cheap. The arms have cable routing slots to conceal mic cable, with cabling held in place with snap in plastic clips that won't pop out easily and keeps everything looking nice and tidy. The base-arm rotates smoothly and can be secured into one position with a turn-screw that has a knurled knob to loosen/tighten each rotating point. A nice feature of the two remaining rotating points that support the mic appear to have internal teeth to grip and lock into place when tightening the knobs, adding a sense of security that your mic won't sag or drop, and that's a nice, unexpected feature.A rotating ball mount where the mic is attached would allow for easy positioning up/down/left/right at the mic mount, rather than just up and down as provided, would have been icing on the cake, but regardless, this is readily accessible as an after market item if this is important to you.And of course, low profile allows placing under a video monitor if having your mic in front of you while looking at your monitor for zoom calls, etc is important to you. It deserves the 5 stars.

I record regularly at home and have tried several mic booms to fit my awkward work desk. I wanted to try this new gear based boom as a low profile solution to clear up my workspace. The layout and design of this device is different from what I've used. My questions and answers follow with a recommendation. Was the package delivered in good shape? Yes, it was well packed in original box with think hard foam padding. Was the packing sustainable with minimal waste? OK. Outer Amazon box not needed and was oversized for package shipped. Foam padding excessive for product protection. Was a readable manual provided? Instructions on back of box. Simple and effective. Recycle the box later. Were all parts included and in good shape? YesIs the product the same as advertised? Yes, [ ]check if dimensions given indicating the limited reach of this boom. Were any necessary tools identified and/or provided? No tools needed. Easy assembly. Were any extra parts or accessories provided? Extra mic adapter. Is the product sturdy, made well and if possible using recycled or similar parts? Yes, boom is solidly built. Gear adjustments and knobs allow for better placement. There are fewer gear adjustment settings than expected resulting in fewer options. The mechanism works well otherwise. The range of reach for the boom is less than I expected or have had with previous spring booms. Are there any visible or obvious safety concerns? No. Be sure to layout your workspace so that boom doesn't interfere or become an obstacle. I like a setup where I can swing the boom out of the way when not in use.Did product adequately perform intended functions or purpose? Yes, I would like greater extension on the base arm to fit larger desk dimensions. The grip and adjustments work well otherwise. I switched to a secondary use need with another computer for better use. I'm satisfied with the results.Does the product compare with other more expensive alternatives? Yes, this mechanism allows for larger microphones, allows for easier adjustments without tools, fits in smaller spaces with perhaps less of a footprint. The upper boom arm didn't provide as much height as I need in my main office setting but angling the mic gave me adequate results. Were photos taken? Yes, unpacking, use. Were any measurements made of performance or function? NA. I did note that no sagging occurred over time while boom installed.List other questions asked:Can the boom attachment handle tight spaces? Yes. I was able to set it up with a tight wall space behind my desk.Does cable management allow for easy removal? Yes, the clips are removable but easy to misplace. Cable routing inside the boom arm is helpful.Do I recommend the product or have concerns? Yes. Be sure to consider your workspace as this boom provided less range than the less precise type I used previously. I found several options that allowed for an adequate office setup in my situation.
