This was a gift for my 5 year old granddaughter and it is pretty cool. Of course all the adults took their turns looking at the slides of bugs that came with it so I would say great for all ages.

Got this as a present for my little cousin. Instant hit! Easy to work and kept him entertained for hours. Great price, the magnification was better than I expected. I might get it for myself.

Not just for kids. It helps me look at splinters and tiny numbers on little bearings. Way better value than those expensive ones.

Compared to my optical microscope, this digital one is easy to set up and use. However, the image is not as clear as the optical one. The magnification looks digital to me, and there is just too much noise in the image. I would recommend an optical microscope if you prefer a clearer image.

Firstly, I couldn't get this toy microscope to display 1080p at all. 720p was the best it does. The listing and manual state otherwise. I was really hoping it did, because it's otherwise a nice starter scope for a young person eager to see things up close out in the field. I did try another app, but the app didn't like the scope. The other issue I have is with the microSD card. The slot pinches the card making it difficult to insert and release. It may work better for you. I can't say for sure. That's not the only problem I ran into. The card showed full when first inserted, so I formatted it and took two snapshots. After plugging the microscope into the computer and discovering it only outputs 720p, I decided to look at the two pics on the sd card. Both were large, but low resolution- 720p on a large canvas. I made sure to have 1080p selected in the scope settings. The windows app only has 720p selectable for this scope. I use a lot of cameras on this app, some are 4k. They ALL have their max resolution selectable. This one topped at 720p. It is, what it is.Then, when I unplugged it from the computer and restarted it, I tried taking a pic but it said full AGAIN. I took the sd card out and reinstalled the card. It worked after that.Too many buggy issues and not as listed for me to personally recommend this. It kinda works, but it just isn't worth the asking price imho. There are other such microscopes on Amazon selling at similar price points with at least 1080p pic recording that work without the issues I experienced.
