  • If you need to reposition dial, loosen wing nut first before repositioning. Forcing dial could affect accuracy.

Adding a Thermometer to a Grill

  • Find the spot on grill lid you want to add the thermometer.
  • Make sure it is located where probe will not contact food.
  • Mark spot with a marker or other tool.
  • Protect inside of grill from metal shaving that will drop from drilling.
  • Drill a 1/4" hole at the position you previously marked.
  • Insert stem end of Midwest Hearth Grill Thermometer into existing hole.
  • Spin on the wing nut and tighten gently (do not overtighten).
  • If you need to reposition dial, loosen wing nut first before repositioning. Forcing dial could affect accuracy.

I needed a second thermometer on my Kettle bbq lid and this worked perfect! Drilled a hole and screwed it in. Took 10min max. Seems accurate. Made in USA to boot.

I looked at a few different thermometers before I settled on this one. I really liked the black background and color on the display. And the thermometer works fine, but I was surprised to find that moisture had gotten inside and now I have constant condensation on the inside of the glass! It still works, but that's very annoying. Maybe I got a bum unit, but it didn't bother me enough to make a return. I can live with it, but I don't like it. I was hoping that after using the grill a few times the high heat would drive the moisture out. It hasn't. I'm in Michigan and we have lots of humidity here. I think I'm stuck with the condensation.Overall a nice unit but I only give it 4 starts because of the moisture ingress.

Added two of them to my Yoder YS640s. Very nice to see differences inside the pit. Really helped with seeing actual temperature.Love that they are made in USA. There we’re cheaper Chinese junk I could buy, but choose the made in USA brand, I hope if your reading this you will do the same.

I bought this due to reviews and the perceived quality of the brand. I wanted something very accurate for the lid of my pellet smoker. Unfortunately this is not accurate at all. The RTD probe built in to my pellet smoker will register 275F and a small oven temp gauge hanging on the rack inside will show around 275F… while this gauge mounted through the lid of my smoker will show around 230-240F. It’s literally in the center between the other two and continually shows 30-40F less than the other gauges.

This is my second one of these thermometers I have purchased for my grills. I fit these on my weber grills at grate height and keep the thermometer on the opposite side of my coals (when cooking with indirect heat) in order to know the true temperature where the food it, not the top of the grill. Why weber puts their thermometers there is beyond me.These thermometers are accurate, give a decently fast reading and are easy to read from a good distance. Love mine, and will buy more when I buy another grill. :)

I purchased a grill and it did not have a temperature guage on it, just the temp control know. So...how hot/high does it heat - who knows. So, I researched guages specifically for this purpose and this is the one I went with - not awfully expensive and not cheap quality (do your research). It is easy to read and the different colored zones are easy to see from a little distance. All I needed was my drill and a 1/4" drill bit and the installation was completed in under 10 minutes - EASY! Highly recommend! (By the way, our first steaks turned out fantastic!)

loved that easy install part, just a quarter in hole i believe it was, slipped right in and tightend right up, i put it on the fire box part of a oklahoma joes smoker , i use the fire box the just grill a couple steaks when its just us, need a temp probe cause i like knowing how hot things a getting, it did feel kinda ouchy on the price, but it is american made and you can see and feel the quality in it, a great gauge
